Pre Op Diet Headaches And Moody?

Recommended Posts

I am having these crazy headaches!! And moodiness! I 'think' it's carb withdrawal? I'm about 2-3 days into no carbs/sugar/starchy stuff diet. I am allowed Protein and non starchy veggies and the. Clear Liquids 24 hrs before...what helps with the headache and moods???

I've done that before just with some of my regular "dieting"...I cut out sugars and caffeine and my body freaks out! LOL Seriously though..I've read in several books that the body starts to "detox" and releases lots of nasty toxins that can cause headaches, mood changes, sweats, shakes...you name it! Hope you feel better soon..maybe try drinking lots of Water to flush that gunk out quicker and take some quiet time to attend to yourself with your favorite soft music, aromatherapy scented warm or cool cloths for your poor head (I love lavender oil) and think about all the good that will be coming soon to your life!

Best of luck in your upcoming surgery!

I had the same problem. First from caffeine withdrawal, then every day after surgery for 7 days, I had a Migraine morning and night. Arghh! I do believe it's the toxins from carbs, the pain meds, dehydration/rehydration, etc. Your new body needs to adjust. Yesterday was the first headache-free day! Thank you, God. I now have the energy to keep on keepin' on! Best of luck.

I am experiencing the same things! I am on day 2 of my pre-op diet and have had a horrible headache all day. Yesterday I took to FB and apologized, in advance, for the bad moods I know I will be having for the next 2 weeks on this pre-op adventure.

I think my pre-op headaches were due to caffeine withdrawal. Post-surgery, my primary doctor said it's from being dehydrated before surgery and rehydrated so quickly afterward with IV's. Then, very little Water. So I had two Migraines a day for 7 days. Arghh! I took my imitrex, and it worked, but it was scary that that was my new life. Guess what? Day 8 - no headache. And none since. Thank God!

I too am on day 2 of my 2 week liquid diet & I've had a headache off & on today. Not hungry yet, thank The Lord. I just assumed its my body adjusting to lack of food!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
