I have all the business in the world posting my opinion on Dr. Almanza. True, I have not been to him, and I state that in my comments. I have read many negative things about him on several different sites. Like I said before, many have been happy with him. Pick the surgeon you feel comfortable with. I did not feel comfortable going to a surgeon that does that many surgeries in a day, not in a hospital, sends you to a recovery house that was robbed (even though I believe now you actually go to a hotel to recover) plus the negative reviews I've read on him. I'm sorry, but that was more than enough to make me not want to go to him. He may be a wonderful surgeon, but I'm a worry wart and I'm going with a surgeon I feel at ease with.

Well said!! I couldn't agree more. If you haven't personally gone to him for the surgery' date=' you have no business commenting on his approach.

I am 100% confident in my decision. Personally, I don't WANT to be in a large hospital setting... too much of an opportunity for risk of infection from sick patients.[/quote']

As I said before- I'm still alive and well :-) actually another 4-5 lbs lighter than before :-)

The dr does not own or run the clinic- he is the surgeon only. He's a great man, and I felt completely safe and well taken care if there with him and his team.

Any questions- just pm me. I get them all the time.

254- 4 days before surgery-

250 day of surgery May 15, 2012

Today, 144.

Honey- I hope you don't go through your entire life believing every thing you hear ;-)

I am very gullible lol but those are actual facts that I stated. If you don't believe me ask some of his older patients.

It was on the Internet it has to be true. EVERYTHING on the Internet is true because it has to be true to be put on the Internet

I didn't get it from the Internet. I got the info from former Almanza patients. One in particular told me that he did well with his surgery but he can no longer recommend Dr. Almanza to anyone due to things that have happened there. But anyway, good luck on your journey. Whether you go there or somewhere else, I wish you the best.

This cracked me up. Love that commercial. Funny funny :))

Stating that Almanza does 10-12 patients a day is not an opinion. And I have talked to his older patients who are my friends. Friends I grew up with and hang out with. Not off of internet forums. They went to him last year and I went in November. So I think it's safe to say in the past year, he does no more than 8 surgeries a day.

I understand that you feel more safe in a hospital. That's an opinion.

Who you choose as a surgeon is a personal choice. We are using this site for info. Facts. Experiences. Opinions. Etc...

libel

1) n. to publish in print (including pictures)... an untruth about another which will do harm to that person or his/her reputation...Libel is the written or broadcast form of defamation, distinguished from slander, which is oral defamation. It is a tort (civil wrong) making the person ... open to a lawsuit for damages by the person who can prove the statement about him/her was a lie. Publication need only be to one person, but it must be a statement which claims to be fact and is not clearly identified as an opinion.

How am I saying lies about him when these are statements clearly made by others on this site? Lol

Simple. Not telling the truth. Just because someone else started the lie does not mean you are not lying by repeating the lie. Seriously?

I don't mean to be rude but I heard things about another Mexican doctor that I am not sure is true. I wouldn't go around telling people he stole someone's money. I didn't experience it and it's that person's story to tell not mine.

How are you going to argue "facts" when you have no Idea and people who have actually been are telling you otherwise?

This probably rooted from an exaggeration.

But if someone shares an experience that another had... Then that is exactly what it is. Passing along info. It is not guaranteed to 100%. How could it be?! "My friend went with Surgeon John Doe and loved him because..."

"My friend went with him to and hated him because..." We are relaying info that we have gleaned from others. As we are adults I can only hope we take it as just that. Info that has made its way around thru channels. I too have read and heard he does 10-12 surgeries a day. I've also read he does 8. I also read he operates out of clinic located in a strip mall. I read that he no longer uses a recovery house. I read that he starts with the lowest BMI and works his way up. This is what I read. I allow for a "margin of error" in the feedback. Mostly what I've read about Dr. Almanza is that he is an extremely skilled surgeon that performs more surgeries per day than most. As I have a very high BMI, comorbidities, and a phobia of anesthesia I decided against Dr. Almanza. I chose a surgeon who specializes in high BMI patients and operates out of a hospital with a full operational ICU. But that's just me. Perhaps we should include a disclaimer when we post?

Amanda Rae

Amanda, I completely agree with what you are saying. What concerns me is when someone makes a statement of fact that is truly only an opinion or heresay from something they heard from someone else. That is misleading and disingenuous.

My point is getting lost here. I just want people to have the correct information. I'm only talking about the amount of surgeries a day. Every thing else is true, he works out of a well equipped clean clinic, low to high bmi, it's in a shopping center, you stay in a hotel.

I'm not swaying anyone's decision. I'm not saying anything bad about other surgeons. I don't have a "my surgeon is better than yours" attitude. If several people who HAVE BEEN to Almanza are saying it's not true, why claim what you are saying is fact when you've never been?
