Varicose Veins+Steroid Inhalers=Poor Healing?

Recommended Posts

I've been really scrounging for information about my upcoming sleeve surgery. I'm self pay, heading to Mexico and want to learn as much as I can in hopes that I heal as well as possible without complications. I found an article on bariatrictimes.com that explained how the stomach healed after surgery. I've always loved science, and biology so even though it was a bit technical I was intrigued with the details. Without quoting the whole study, one of the things that I learned was that the best healing takes place in the presence of good blood supply.

I have varicose and spider veins in my legs. I'm wondering if anyone thinks this may mean I could potentially have poor blood supply in other areas of my body, namely my stomach??

Also, I have used steroid inhalers for my asthma for better than 20 years. I'm supposed to rinse and spit out the Water after use, but sometimes I just take a drink and swallow it. Am I swallowing enough medication that it may change how my stomach heals after surgery??

Any sleeved nurses out there that could comment on that?

I have the option of a phone consult with my surgeon, but I don't want to seem like "the crazy lady with the hair-brained questions", even though I really am coming up with some random, oddball thoughts of late!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
