November 20 Surgery Date And Thanksgiving Irony!

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is November 20 - Harrisonburg, VA, and my Dr. requires 2 night stay which means I will go home on Thanksgiving morning. I have laughed at the irony of this all day. I will literally be sipping while the rest of America gorges. I think it is a perfect week to begin my new sleevie life! I also think it will give Thanksgiving a whole new meaning for me and my family! I am hoping that this time next year I will look back on the tough times and appreciate the true meaning of Thanksgiving.

The turkey broth will be yummy though :P Save some pumpkin pie (minus crust) for the mushies....heh heh

Actually you will probably be enjoying the holiday from the sofa or bed. :) Hopefully feeling pretty good by then. You can lift a glass of champs though on your one year surgiversary LOL

My surgery date is November 19, so I totally understand where you're coming from. I am a nurse and don't usually get to spend Thanksgiving with my family, so I'm actually really excited to be guaranteed to spend this holiday with them (even if I am just relaxing in my PJs). Next Thanksgiving, life will be completely different for us, I can hardly wait to see where I am a year from now. My family is extremely supportative of my decision and they made a vow to stop making every holiday so much about eating. We are going to incorporate a fun physical activity into every holiday from here on out! Although my closest family members (Mom, boyfriend and siblings) don't struggle with their weight, my cousin and Aunt both just had bariatric surgery. I am very fortunate to have them as a support system!

good luck

<3

My surgery date is the 20th also. I am sooo excited. I bought some Protein last night (comparable to the IsoBlast 800) and am hoping to incorporate it into my lifestyle over the next week & a half, before my pre-op diet starts. The stuff I found is 0 fat, 1g carbs and 27g of Protein. Keep me updated on how you're doing :-)

I'm also on November 20th. My doc might discharge me after one day depending on how I'm doing. Plus my mother is an ICU nurse and since she's going to take care of me, I think I'm set. Lol.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
