I will post the pic of the dishes I made.. I think they are great! In general we are people that have gone from relying on food for comfort.. we have untimatly ripped that comfy blanket away from ourselves. We deserve something special.. right? What are you doing special for yourself?

i weighed myself this a.m. I am 18 down! Amazing.. Is this common? I love it! And, I do not feel hungry. Thank God!

Veggie,I am a radiography student... maybe someday I will be checking someones barium swallow! lol

Have a great day!

Hello Everyone!

It's that time again! This is the last group to go for this month! Congratulations to all who were banded this month, and congratulations to those who are crossing the finish line this week.

You may be the last leg of this relay team, but it's always the last runner up that brings home the medal for us all!

For those who are traveling, safe journey! Come back soon and update us on your progress.

Hi Karen!!! And eeryone else!!!

Now for my story...yes, you've read right...my date has been moved. Prayerfully it will be sometime in December. There's a chance it won't, because of rescheduling and the holidays. Nothing to do with me or my surgeon. My Insurer is causing us problems all of a sudden. Nothing that can't be worked out. I have a feeling their trying to delay it until next year. My policy changes some in January, and I would end up paying more out of pocket. We should have everything straightened out in a week or two, but then again, I don't know what we'll end up doing about scheduling. Not that it matters. I hadn't expected to eat during this coming Christmas/New Year season anyway. My surgeon requires 6 weeks of liquids after the surgery.

Don't think you're going to get rid of me this easily, though... ;) I'll be checking in on you from time to time!

I'm sure it will. Just another unexpected delay. I think someone is testing my determination to have this procedure done.

Thanks Misty!

Okay so I am going to do this! I am scheduled for surgery on Wednesday 11/27. It has been a hell of a holiday season so far. I am doing my 2 week pre-op diet and am soooo darn hungry. I'm very nervous and scared and could use the support. Here's wishing us all skinny!

I had my first follow-up visit with my surgeon. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since banding. He was very pleased with how I've healed and my weight loss (which is 13 pounds from pre-op visit). My surgeon rarely recommends the band as he feels it is not as efective as the actual bypass but felt I was a good candidate since I had already loss 30+ pounds and had less than 100 to lose. He only expects band patients to lose about 1 pound per week (versus bypass that lose 1 pound per day) so was very pleased with my weight loss.

I also met with the dietician who was happy with my diet and they moved me to stage IV which, basically means I get REAL food, just controlled quantities. Still need to ensure Protein intake is adequate and calories aren't too high, but I get to eat like a "normal" person. She even said that if I have a craving for something (my downfall is salty snacks), eat some protein first and then chose a healthier versus such as the baked chips or pretzels.< /p>

I go back in 3 weeks and will likely get my first fill then.

Tom

Great job Tom!

Welcome Michael, Melissa & Marni!

Chris, I'm sorry. But remember everything happens for a reason and when the time is right it WILL happen. And we will all be here to support you as you have for us!

Hello everyone! I am getting discouraged with my weight loss. I haven't lost anything for a couple of weeks. I go this Friday for my one month check up and I think they will do a fill. I don't feel like I am eating too much and I am trying to eat somewhat health. I would love to run to McDonald's or Burger King, but I haven't ate anything like that for over a month.

Where is pebbles4388, kym828 and DeniseC? I was wondering how their weight loss is going, since they had their surgery the same day as me.

I have an official weight loss total on Friday, but my scales haven't budged off 234. I thought I'd see a change of 2 to 3 pounds per week. I know I haven't had a fill yet, but I know it is restricting me somewhat because I tried to get more than I should and it made me split back up like baby would.

Pumkin pie was easy to eat...maybe to easy! I didn't have a problem eating anything, except I didn't try the dressing. I thought it was to bready.

Got to get to work for now...have a wonderful DAY!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
