Anyone Going To Aceves In Dec?

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm a newbie here :-) Not quite sure how this works. But I was wondering who is planning to have surgery with Dr. Alberto Aceves? And if anyone will be there around Dec. 4th?

Hi! Just wanted to say that when i went I only knew one person from this site (my surgery sister FRZA) but there were several people already there in different stages of recovery. So don't worry too much if no one says they are going, you are sure to find other people there. One person knew we were going by reading this forum but didn't post about it. We met her at the airport.

Oh ok! Good :-) Thanks! I'm super excited. Just thought it would be cool to talk with people on the same journey. I saw some of your posts. You were very pleased with Aceves right? I have a friend at my church who recommended him. He couldn't say enough wonderful things about him, his staff, or the hospital. Of course now that I'm doing so much research, I keep seeing Alvarez's name pop up everywhere and I wonder. But! I paid the deposit, booked the flights, and the surgery, so it's happening now :-)

I sure will ;-) ... BTW ... I think both Dr. Aceves and Dr. Alvarez are really great doctors and you can't go wrong with either of them. I simply choose Dr Aceves, because I liked the 3 night stay in the hospital better and the sx date that came available worked great with my schedule ...

I like Dr. Alvarez's website and statistics. He's done a lot of sleeves successfully. I downloaded his book today and am reading it. I like Dr. Aceves because his staff is so nice and he and the hospital come highly recommended. But I'm booked with Aceves, just having second thoughts and looking at Alvarez. Has anyone else done this once booked? Am I the only surgeon hopper?

I just had my surgery 9 days ago with Dr Aceves in Mexicali, I really feel good, as Dr Aceves told me next day of my surgery "it seems that You had no surgery, you look happy"... I had no pain, the staff was really nice. Its hard spend the days only drinking liquids but Im working on it, I hope your experience will be as good as mine.

Thanks for all the responses!! I did decide after researching them both to switch to Alvarez. Nothing against Dr. Aceves, he's awesome I'm sure, but it seemed like Alvarez specialized in the sleeve and has done thousands of procedures. I'm booked for Dec. 3rd with Dr. Alvarez :-) I'm psyched!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
