I feel a little better I'm still a little sore but that's to be expected, I did some christmas shopping yesterday all while feeling like my stomach was going to burst but who knew that all the walking would relive gas pain and buildup.I'm 5 days out and im trying to get my fluids down but it feels like bumbles of indigestion every time I swallow "anything" its a very uncomfortable feeling. How small of a SIP are you suppose to drink? Is it my SIP portions that's causing this? Or maybe my sleeve is still too swollen to process anything? Have anyone else felt like this?

Its probably your sip portions.....take it easy and slow. Im still sipping small amounts of Fluid. Remember its only been 5 days, so you have lots of swelling.

Do any of you attend a support group in Atlanta? Real Results has an open meeting once a month. I think I am going to try a few different groups before settling on one. Either that or start one with meetup. I am looking for something that is more than sitting around kvetching about how little one can eat and how many times a person threw up. I want something that's more recipe and book sharing, guest speaker, everyone supporting each other kind of thing.

Anyone know of a group in existence like that?

I'm not sure where you are located, but I've heard that DeKalb Medical has one. I haven't attended any meetings, but I was thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hello.....::::I was sleeved on 12/20/2012 with Dr. Duncan. I had my surgery at the surgical center not at a hospital. The pain has been

unbearable. I hate feeling helpless. I am having my JP drain removed on Friday. I hope the pain will be better. I am starting to regret this surgery.

I am still having a hard time getting in and out of the bed.

You're still in pain? Have you spoken to your doctor? If you have your surgery in a clinic, is that outpatient?

It just seems odd that you'd still be in pain. I had my surgery a day after yours and I haven't been in much pain. My doc manages pain well.

Hi TeachBear. I'm so sorry you're feeling do bad. Is it mostly gas pain along with incision pain? I was sleeved 11/23/12 and my gas pains were so bad that I just laid in bed and cried and cried. I promise it will get better. Do you have anyone at your home to help you while you're feeling so bad? Where in Atlanta do you live? I'm in the City of Decatur area.

TheCurvyJ, I looked a little around for a support group but the few I found were way outside the perimeter. I need to check into the one at Dekalb Med. Ctr. I live very close by there. I love your idea of starting a meetup group. Did you check to see if there is one already going for people intown? Think I'll check that out but if you started one up for people living onside the perimeter I'd join! Where do you live?

I live in Marietta. I did check to see if there was a current group but the only one that I see that really needs with any regularity is real results.

I had a lot pain too. Did you have a hernia repair, if so that can cause lots of PAIN. I went to see my primary care doctor and she said that the hernia and gas is probably where the bulk of my pain came from....... I had to have my drain in for 10 days and it was hell! Even when I went for my 2 week check up, their was a guy there who was still experiencing some discomfort from that spot too. Think about where its located, that too has a lot to do with it. Mine was right below my boob.... Also, if you had any other surgeries, as this was my 3rd going into my belly button the scar tissue can slow down the healing process............with all that said, you aren't alone. it's only been 6days and while there are lots of people on here who bounce back very fast, we are all different. It gets BETTER!!! Trust me I felt the same as you did at this point and even the doctor said that I was being unrealistic in my expectations on healing.

I'm 2months and 2 days post op, and I feel great!!! ((((Hugs)))) I'm here for you.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
