Thanks so much for your responses! If you haven't already, post what city/town in which you live and the date of your surgery. Mine is coming up in a few weeks... Nov. 19th and I'm venturing off to Mexico for it. Don't worry, I've researched it thoroughly. Perhaps we can all get together in a few months after we're all done with our surgeries if we live close enough to each other.

I had thought of going to Dr. Macik before I found out my insurance wouldn't cover anything related to WLS. What do you think about him?

I think Dr. Macik is great. He has a great record and his staff are very nice. He is very careful. I like that in a surgeon. I am a self pay due to insurance exclusions. He seems comparable to others in the area.

One of my friends had the lap band surgery with Dr. Macik and had nothing but good reviews with him.

I started my process with Dr. Titus Duncan before finding out that my new insurance policy excluded wls..

My same friend that used Dr. Macik recommeded Dr. Volcy at Kennestone Hospital. I am going to check her out since she is in the same office as my mother's PCP. I will let you know how it goes.
