Newly Banded and Need Advice

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I was banded on Sept. 21, 2006 in Monterrey Mexico by Dr. Roberto Rumbaut. Everything went so smoothly and a side from some slight discomfort, I have been doing great. In fact, I am concerned that I've felt so good that I've had a hard time following the post op diet. I was supposed to follow a strict liquid diet for 2 weeks post op, but I've been gradually moving into soft foods quicker than I was supposed to. Should I be worried? :phanvan I don't think I'm over doing it. I've not felt sick or had to vomit. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

-Angela

Hey Angela, Welcome to bandland. Glad you are doing so great. I also had an easy time. The reason for the liquids is so your tummy can heal the right way. try and hold off until your two weeks are up. You can have cream Soups and sugar free popcicles and jello.Work with your band and you will do great. I am a little over five months out and only like 18 pounds reaching my goal. You only have a little more than I did to lose.:)

Hi Angela, congrats on getting the band and welcome to LBT. Every doctor has different guidelines for food stages once banded. I was on liquids only for the first 10 days. On day 10 I saw my doctor and he moved me to mushies. If you really feel you need something more substantial, I would suggest calling your doctor and talking to him about it. If he feels you are ok to have something a little more filling, then he will suggest what he feels is appropriate for you to try now.

Hello Angela

Congratulations and welcome to bandland. Ever Docotors post op diet is different. I was only on liquids for about a week before moving onto mushies. Talk to your doctor and see what he says. They just want to make sure yout tummy heals and you dont over work it processing foods.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
