Are Any Of You Stii Using Your Cpap?

Recommended Posts

I thought that I had researched carefully but hear two things I missed:

1. No one ever told that I could not use my Cpap machine after surgery. I am very attached to mine. I always use it for maps even. This did not come Dr. Kim's office but from the nurses checking me out. Any one else get this advice?

2. I bought some Tylenol pm but completely forgot about the powdering of all medicines. Wish I would have been smart enough to buy a mortar and pestle.

yes, the nurses at the hospital when they checked me. Did you start back on it right away. I am a mouth breather at night and my throat gets very sore.

Maybe they will have you on oxygen? It seems strange that they wouldn't want you to use it. I get sick when I don't use mine. I am feeling horrible today because I didn't sleep well with it last night and get horrible leg aches.

I'm still using mine 2 months post-op. I was told to bring mine with me to the hospital when I had the WLS. I'm very curious why they told you not to use yours.

I called Dr. Kim (Colleyville, Tx) this week & they said Tylenol pm is fine, just break it in half. :-)

If you want a sleep aid,p why not just buy that? Tylenol PM is a combination of acetaminophen & a sleep aid.

The sleep aid is also a lot smaller pill

I asked my doctor about not being able to sleep & they suggested Tylenol pm, so I went with that.

Dr told me its better to take Benadryl to help w/ sleep aid due to long term kidney problems w/ taking too much Tylenol over time especially if you don't have real pain your just taking it to sleep... I've had issues sleeping @ night for years & have used Benadryl lately & works great... Just a suggestion - good luck...

I used my cpap in the hospital immediately after surgery and during my weeklong stay. I've continued to use it at home as well (im 9 mo's out). My family doctor mentioned to me that I can get retested and may be able to get off it or at least have my settings lowered, but really....im attached to my machine.... not interested in giving it or the settings up yet!

For restless nites, I take a sip of Nyquil or its generic equivalent to help me sleep.< /p>

I can't take Benadryl bc it really bothers my RLS (restless leg syndrome). If I take Benadryl bc of allergies, I have to take at least 3 Tylenol to be able to sleep. Stinks!

Best sleep aid I've found is something called melatonin. It's a supplement, you find it in the Vitamin section. To me, that makes it less scary than taking an actual medication like NyQuil or Benadryl. Anyway, I take 10mg of melatonin a night and I swear by it. Absolutely swear by it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
