Congrats Joisey ! So glad to hear that your recovery has gone so well ! I was sleeved on the 18th and I also, am doing well. Except for a screw up with the hospital that kept me in recovery for 7 hours (yep, how ridiculous !!!), some post op sickness (which thanks to recovery room drugs I have no memory of), and that gawd awful clear stuff they make you drink for part 1 of a 2 part leak test making me want to hurl, my recovery went pretty well. Was up and walking at 1:30 in the morning and having a really hard time sipping (kept making me want to hurl). I ended up being kept a third night in the hospital because I wasn't getting enough Fluid down, but as soon as I told them to take the pain pump full of morphine and STOP giving me anti nausea meds (which were keeping me so knocked out I couldn't even hold a conversation without dropping off mid sentence) I felt SO much better and was able to more than double my fluid intake in 24 hours ! Sometimes the meds make your recovery harder instead of easier ! The pain was tolerable, but you definitely know you've been cut on. I went in expecting the worst and found that I was pleasantly surprised and relieved. In all honesty, the jury is still out since it's all still so new, but I'm trying to stay positive that all will be well but keeping an eye out for any funky feelings or odd signs that something may be up. I was beyond nervous and had they not given me that little pre op nerve tonic shot when they did, I very well may have bolted out of that hospital, bare butt hanging out of the hospital gown and all ! I'm feeling very fortunate and blessed but remaining on high alert for any issues. Go in expecting the best possible outcome but still be mentally prepared for potential complications. Positive thinking isn't easy when your terrified, but it really can help your recovery. After all, the mind controls the body. My mantra, prayer, or whatever you want to call it going in was "please just let me wake up. I'll deal with whatever else comes after that". Again, CONGRATS !!!

THE BEST HELPFUL HINT:

I can't remember who told me this, but after surgery, may people can't pee. I was one those people. If you have trouble peeing, (I am NOT joking) put your tongue to the roof of your mouth and push. I swear! It works. Once you take your tongue from the roof of your mouth, your stream stops! This trick alone allowed me to finally pee. It's crazy, I know!!

That's awesome!! I had trouble too, I wish I'd know about THAT!!

Dr. Kim is awesome, huh? I couldn't be happier. Good job! Go get it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
