To set the record straight, I did not author that post. It was something that a friend from another country sent me. I thought people might find it entertaining. Obviously some did and some didn't. I certainly did.

Yes, let's add to that list. I'm not going to go into the lengths of Bjean felt necessary...but let's be fair here:

What if John McCain had his political coming out party at Bill Ayers, an unrepentent domestic terrorist's house and sat on multiple boards with him?

What if John McCain had sat in the pews of a church that offered a reverend who regurgitated anti-American hate speech for 20 years and then claimed to never have heard of him saying anything out of line?

What if John McCain had that same reverend marry he and his wife and baptize his children?

What if John McCain touted "spreading the wealth" and other socialist philosophies? And what if he proposed government taking over healthcare and ran on a platform that would result in spending over one trillion dollars during the worst economic times our country has known since the Great Depression?

What if John McCain's running mate had actually advocated that he'd be happy to be on the ticket with Barack Obama and stated that John McCain wasn't ready to be President because the Presidency doesn't lend itself to on-the-job-training?

What if Cindy McCain came out and said she hadn't been proud of her country in over 40 years of being an American?

What if John McCain had represented an organization well known by both parties to engage in voter fraud and what if John McCain, fully knowing of said organization, rather than denounce the organization, instead funneled over $800,000 to it?

What if John McCain's mentors included a proclaimed Communist and a racist Muslim?

Finally, what if John McCain was a freshman Senator with little executive experience that had spent a little over a year in the Senate before beginning his campaign for the Presidency?

My list could go on and on too, Bjean. I'm not going to knock either candidate's education. Harvard is obviously impressive, but the Naval Academy isn’t some community college.

I think we could both agree that if Barack Obama can call his "community organizing" on the streets of Chicago the "best education" he ever received, John McCain's time as a prisoner of war in the Hanoi Hilton probably qualifies as well.

Because of his radical ties to terrorists, racists, communists, etc. it is doubtful that Barack Obama would pass the background check required to deliver you your mail. I'm certain that John McCain could.

I'd throw the same question right back to you. If these questions really reflected reality, do you believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

I'm right there with you. I'm so passionate about politics. My kids (ages 8 and 11) are following in my footsteps; every time there's something online or on the news about the race, or a picket or protest they can go to, they want to be there. I think it's great they're following along! My son is 9 and last night at dinner he asked me what voter fraud was. It seems like everyday he has a new question about politics and I am encouraged that he is taking an interest and asking questions.

Maybe you should have explained what it would be like if his teacher handed out grades like Obama wants to hand out wealth:

Ha! Classic. Heard this analogy many times but it always bears repeating.

That's all the Republicans have left. Bush lowered taxes and look at our country. The top 5% are the ones that got the biggest tax cuts from Bush and Obama wants to right the ship. Some of us are concerned about more than taxes in this country. I personally would not be surprised if the next president raised taxes on almost all of us. He will not have a choice. Remember Bush Sr. "read my lips no new taxes", he raised them anyway. Not to mentioned with Bush we tried trickle down, how's that working? I agree with Obama put the money in the middle and let it work it's way up.

It strikes me that every country needs the income which comes from taxes in order that the country might function in an orderly fashion. Basic infrastructure (such as roads) need to be maintained; children need to be educated; society needs law and order and the personnel in place to enforce this protection in order that the weaker or the law-abiding or the individual investor, take your pick, might continue to survive. All of this requires money and this traditionally comes in the form of taxes. And then, of course, there is this war in Iraq to pay for; I am under the impression that it has cost the United States more than a trillion dollars so far. Indeed, America has a huge foreign debt and its biggest lender is China. And this was the situation before the debacle on Wall Street. Taxes are a necessary evil. Why not place a greater burden on those who can most afford to pay, those families who are the nation's highest earners?

This is not an accurate representation of what Obama wishes to do. He does not wish to reduce the after tax income of the wealthy to that of the lower middle class. He does, however, recognize that a family who is pulling down a quarter of a million per annum is considerably more able to participate in the tax burden than a family who is pulling down $40- or 50,000 per annum.

Up here in socialized Canuckistan we are considerably more heavily taxed and yet we still do have wealthy folk and a thriving middle class. In fact, the statistics for 2005 indicated that Canadians are wealthier than Americans. The net worth of the median Canadian family is 30% richer than the median American family. When you have more than 50% of the people feeling entitled to government assistance and a cut of someone else's income, you're really screwed.
