How Much Walking Is Everybody Doing Post Op?

Recommended Posts

My husband and I are both post op, his was on 8-27 and mine on 9-10. Just wondering how much walking people are doing since surgery as we have to wait 6 weeks before our dr will let us get in the gym.

I walk 30 minutes on the treadmill daily. I had my sleeve on 8/20. You can walk just no lifting weights til your surgeon says ok. In fact they want you to walk to prevent blood clots....good luck to you and your husband :)

I just walked until I was tired or it started hurting. It's a great idea to start walking as soon as your able, but also you don't want to overdue it due to injury. As long as your feeling good, I would just keep on going. Your body will let you know.

I walk as much as I'm able. Some days I get really tired quickly so I don't push it....but it's getting easier and better each day.

Early out i didn't keep track of how much i walked. I had surgery on a Wednesday and on Monday when most of my family went back to work my Grandma started coming over everyday and walking with me or taking me shopping with her since i couldn't drive. The first few days grandma would out walk me and i would have to sit and rest, now i am up to 1.25-1.5 miles at 6 months out. Try to walk every other day and weights on the alternating days.

I haven't had my surgery yet' date=' but I just wanted to say how great I think it is that you and your husband get to do this together. And that you get to live healthy lives together. Yay!!![/quote']

@ Bigfatloser, it was a tough decision to make to finally decide to have wls but once we made it the only way it was going to work for us was to do it together. And so far so good. Good luck with yours and thanks for the comment :)

I am still working on getting all my fluids in also. It does get easier every day. Just really need to start concentrating in getting my walking going too.

I walk somewhere between 2-4 miles a dog with my dog. He loves all the walks he is getting since post-op.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
