Protein Bars-Are They Ok For Meal Relacements?

Recommended Posts

My Dr. puts us on a 3-week Pre-op. Diet consisting on one meal (prob. Dinner) of Protein and veggies with 3 "protein meals". I ordered Unjury unflavored whey Protein Powder for smoothies and they have a chicken broth that's high protein for lunch. I'm dreading this phase- hardly any chewing involved and was hoping there's a high protein Meal Replacement bar to add to the menu. I suppose that compared to the clear liquid phase, this will feel like a feeding frenzy! Also, all the talk about Muscle Milk- is it high protein?

Holly, you may want to try the Quest Protein Bars. I swear by them. they have a lot of yummy flavors, have 160-210 calories per bar, 20 gms of Protein, 17-18 gms Fiber, and only 1-2gms sugar. They are very filling (after you have the sleeve). You can buy them on line at QuestProteinBar.com or at The Vitamin Shoppe in your hometown. I recommend the chocolate Brownie, strawberry Shortcake, Cashew Chew, and Apple Pie! Oh my, they are sooo good. And these bars are VERY chewy! Good Luck!

Awe RJ- sorry about the no meal during your Pre-op diet. I'll have to make sure it is very filling w/ lots of veggies to chew. Thanks for the Protein Bar info, Grammy. I'm def. going to try those!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
