Hi from Minnesota

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am brand new to your site and was just banded on 9/15/06. I was feeling pretty excited and was expecting all of the early discomforts following surgery. Now however, I made the mistake of reading your forum page on complications. I am starting to get nervous. I had the surgery to begin to feel better, loose weight, get fit, have more energy and overall be healthier for my kids. After reading last night I am worried. So many posts about feeling :sick yucky and sick all of the time, even a year after banding. It sounds like some people are feeling sick every time they eat. :) So much bad news! It was so different from what my clinic told me(everyone loves their band, feel great etc.). Please tell me that they are the very tiny minority and that I can enjoy life without being miserable. My next post will be much more fun and positive, especially if I get a positive reply from this post. Thanks for all the help.

Hi and welcome to LBT! It sounds like your surgery went very well and you are doing well.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT let what you read on the complications forums scare you. Remember, most people tend to post when they are having a problem. When things are going great, we tend to not hear from them as much (unless they are a computer geek/internet freak like me) because they are off living life and enjoy their new found health that the band has brought them. In my personal opinion, and from what I have read and researched, those who post in the complications forum are a teeny tiny minority compared to those who are living with and loving their band. Additionally, if you read through many of the posts in the complications forum, many of those people would not trade their band for anything and/or would do it again.

I hope you hear from others on here who will reinforce my opinion and help ease your worries. And remember, there were probably far greater risks to your health by not getting your band than getting it.

Please do not be afraid to ask for advice and support, that is what we are all here for. I am glad you found us.

:) Thank you for the positive response. That is what I was hoping to hear. I am so glad I found this web site and wish I had known about it earlier. I will need to figure out the ins and outs of the site. Thank you for the support. It has been 5 days since I was banded and I am feeling pretty darn good. I feel even better knowing where to go with questions.

Thanks again.

Yep,

Everyone who's losing and doing great are usually not on here but I'm here and so far so good and no problems. I've been banded for 2 months and have lost 40 pounds and getting ready for another fill this week. I have had no problems, I'll probably jinz it now, but no really, most have no problems at all.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
