Hi everyone,

Good job JDru, your well on your way to the Valentines Day Challenge, and keep up the exercising, you motivate me to get my but started.

Sonican don't let one week throw a whammy to you, you'll be back to losing when you weigh in next week, that's the hardest thing with weight loss, it fluctuates so much and it can be so agravating but don't let it get you down. The holiday's are thru and we are off to a fresh new start.

I weighed myself this morning and I lost 5# so that makes 6# total for the V-day challenge. I finally broke my platoue, I'v been losing and gaining the same 1# for about 3 weeks. Now I just need to add my exercise and things will go better.

Good Morning October Bandsters!

It's been a few days since I posted so I figured I better get off my butt and make my appearance known. I've been struggling a bit lately and I think I'm going to need another fill. I just can't seem to get filled up. Bummer.

Do I like my job? I love it! I work with the SD State Penitentiary and am responsible for all of the boilers and Water heaters. It's the first job I have ever had where I look forward to getting to work each day. My hours couldn't be better....6am to 2:30pm Monday thru Friday. 13 paid holidays a year with three weeks paid vacation. And one of the best things is that working here, everyday is truly an adventure! You never know what will be going on from day to day, let alone hour to hour.

Although I'm struggling with my diet right now, I am still being faithful to my exercise program. I think that is what is saving me right now. Each and every afternoon I go for a mile on my treadmill. I actually look forward to it.

It is time to buckle down though and get back to using my band as the tool it was intended to be used for. I've felt so good with a 45 pound weight loss, I think I've forgotten that I still need to drop about 80 more!

I to have been struggling too! I have stayed the same. I go for my 1st fill tomorrow at 9:30, I'm alittle nervous! But I hope it kicks me in the butt!

I have been having the gel injected into my knee and have that tomorrow too, #2 out of 3, one each week. Hope it works, did last year. But riding my bike has made it bad again. I need to exersize more.

Dru you are doing great and now you are a head of me. but I hope to catch up with you. Mary

Jules, thanks for the encouragement on the exercise!! You hold me accountable...took tonight off, but I'm back to the gym tomorrow.

I'm finally starting to feel real restriction with my last fill. We'll see how I do this week.

Good luck this week everyone! :)

Well I got off of my butt and called for another fill. But...I can't get in until Feb 1st! Geez. I hope someone cancels so I can get in earlier. My Dr's nurse is on vacation...bummer. If she was around she would get me in today!

So somehow I'm going to have to wing it for another 20 days. Wish me luck.

I got my fill this morning, 4cc's it was so easy, easier than getting my injections in my knee. I was so nevrous about getting a fill. He just pushed on my stomach and then numbed it and shot it. Fast and easy.

Oh he did say I could have anything I wanted to eat or drink, He even asked me if I wanted something before my fill. But I went without anything, but got my coffee the minute I left. LOL

I am down 36lbs now, I can't believe it, because Christmas was really hard for me with the sweets.

Ok everyone lets do this. Mary

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
