Hi, I am 1 week post op today (20.1 lbs down :) woo hoo) the past 2 days I have been experiencing a lump or ball like feeling when swallowing... The best I can explain is it feels like its about at the bottom of my chest bone, and it goes away after about 3-5 seconds.

Anyone have this issue, what helped it, & when does it go away?

Gas maybe? I'm only 2.5 weeks out, but my guess is it might be gas, esp since it comes and goes.

Did you have a hiatal hernia repair?

I am four weeks out and experience the same have been probably since 1wk post op. I think its just like an air bubble then it pushes through. I dont think its gas cause it would stay longer. I notice more when i take a larger drink of somthing rather then a sip

This goes away after awhile as swelling goes down. Just be sure to eat and drink slowly and let what you consume make its way down. I saw a model of the sleeve and there is a narrowing after your esophagus, sort of a little bend in the road. I think this one reason we are told to eat slowly and chew well so as not to overwhelm our new little tummys. It gets better for those that are healing normally. Of course others do have actual strictures that need intervention. You need time to heal.

I have this too, I am only 4 days postop but it happens often and sometimes happens when I'm not even drinking anything (middle of night). I will sit up straight and it will take a few seconds and I will either burp a small burp and it feels like the rest of it just rolls back down again or i won't burp at all and it will just roll back down on its own. Kind of feels like gas but I am not certain thats what it is, cause I can never get all of it up. It is very uncomfortable. Also, I get this weird sensation in my tummy, almost like a full sensation when I'm sipping drink or Soup and trust me my sips are baby sips. I'm definately not consuming what I should be and surely not taking in enough liquids for my tummy to say its full but I'm just hoping that this is just a "new" feeling of something being introduced to such a small area and my body's way of getting used to it. I don't know. I've lost 18lbs since pre-op diet though so I guess I will have to take everything in strides. If anyone can give me some tips on this clear liquid stage I am in right now because I am tired of the same old stuff. I haven't done a Protein shake since surgery but I just got back home last night and they didn't give it to me while I was there. I'm confused by what exactly a clear liquid is at this point, I hear clear liquid, full liquid, what the heck?

BTW my doctor wasn't that informative, which is one of the reasons I regret having had it done in Mexico. I know alot of people do and are happy with their experiences, but mine was not a good one. Don't really care to fuss about the experience now but any help or advice from some post oppers would be helpful, since I really have no where to turn right now for answers other than this blog. Thanks Guys! :)

Sleevesister....full fluids are not clear that's the only difference. By now you will probably almost be ready to move to mushy or very soft foods. That feeling of being full changes over time, but it takes awhile. Just slowly take in what you can, and later you will be able to tolerate a little more. After you get to full solids, be ready to feel the real restriction of your sleeve. It stops you from overeating like nothing you have ever felt. It takes time to get used to it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
