When Can You Start Eating Noodles, Pasta?

Recommended Posts

For me, it's taken me 10 months to handle any sort of noodle. I haven't tried Pasta for a while, but twice this week I had wheat noodles in Saimin and a Hawaiian noodle dish (similar to chow mein). You'll laugh when you see how large the portion is and how little I ate, just know that every bite was heaven, I felt very satisfied when I was done, and now have leftovers for the next week!

Photos are on my Sunday blog at www.queenofcrop.com I have been told that it's helpful to see what other people are eating so here ya go! I know I would have wanted to know before I was sleeved.

The noodles didn't send your sleeve into an uproar? Any type of noodle or bread feels like concrete in my stomach so I tend to avoid them as much as possible now and only eat them on rare occasions.

Oh my! I just had noodles last night and the pain was so severe I was literally praying that I had not done any damage :( won't be trying that again for a looong while if ever! It was that bad!! Glad you can enjoy tho :) btw I'm 3 month out.

I eat Pasta and rice just fine.. No issues here... I first started with Soups that had rice or pasta and that was at about 3-4 weeks. I'm 4 1/2 months out and I enjoy various pastas such as tortellini, penne, spaghetti, etc.... I usually have some chicken with it though so I can make sure I get Protein. Granted, I don't eat much but it digests just fine and doesn't make me feel bad.

This is why I posted this; because I wasn't sure I would ever be able to eat noodles or Pasta again. I was the same way up until now, so just know at some point in the future you might be able to. Just venture in lightly. Still can't eat rice but maybe in a few more months.

Everyone is different. I'm over two years out now but still don't do much Pasta, rice or tortilla. They swell up in my belly and I go from feeling fine to feeling sick with one bite. I don't care for that feeling, and I find it's harder to gauge when I've had enough to eat with these foods because of how they expand.

I'll do a few bites of rice or noodles here and there and I make my own varenyky, so I eat a couple of those a few times a year. I'm not feeling deprived or anything. I can honestly eat any food I want (except cow's milk and more than a few bites of ice cream made with cow's milk) but I choose not to eat certain foods because of how they make me feel.

I urge anyone trying these foods to go SLOW and only take a few bites and wait a good ten minutes to see if it's going to cause an issue. Once you know your limit it's easier to avoid issues with these foods.

I can tolerate noodles very well and I have had no problem since 3 months out. I have noodles 2-3x per week. They are my fave!

To Butterfly: No to Saipan! I just love to eat Saimin! (Hawaiian version of chow mein).

Um, I'm a little scared! I'm 4 1/2 months out and hadn't had any Pasta until about 10 minutes ago, when I made some gluten free pasta for my family's dinner side. I had a little ramekin of the pasta and then sat down to read the forum! Wish me luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
