Pre-op appointments causing surgery delay in Mexico???

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had a problem with pre-op appointments causing them to delay surgery. I am considering Dr. Roberto Rumbaut in Mexico... but worried about complications prior to surgery. I would hate to take off of work and fly out of the country and encounter problems.

Thanks.

Are you saying that you are going to have our pre op tests done in Mexico also and then plan to have your surgery right away on the same trip?

I have an on-line friend who went for his stress test here in US last week; they found a blockage and scheduled him for an angioplasty (inserted a stent in his heart). He will have his wls when he is fully recovered from that. I know of another case in which the psych eval indicated depression and the shrink required the patient to see a therapist before they would schedule the wls.

So, yes, things do happen. Would it be possible for you to find out what Dr R requires, do the pre op work here, then take the results with you to Mexico.?

Guess I misunderstood stuff I was reading. I thought he did pre-ops the day before surgery in MX.

I am just starting research for self pay.

Hi - I was banded on 9/1 in Monterrey, MX - and what they did was took blood and performed the tests the day I arrived...then I had surgery the next day, recovered the next and then flew home....

I had surgery in Monterrey as well with Dr. Sanchez and I had no preop work and the day of surgery when they wheeled me into the preop waiting they took my blood and that was it and that was 30 min. or so before surgery.

I don't know if you have already done the surgery, however all pre ops with Rumbaut are done the day before surgery. If your state side doc requires any testing thats a differant story. The reason I chose Rumbaut is that I did not have to go through much of the requirements that the states require. In addition the cost is less for several reasons. If you feel you must attend a siminar that is your choice. Understand they do preform many tests for the surgery and visits with Nutritionist prior to surgery. They give you lots of info in just a few hours. Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
