I am over six weeks out and somewhat active (Zumba, working with a trainer, 1-2 hours of walking) is 1050 calories too much?

What did your doctor and or nutritionist say?

My NUT said that during the weighloss phases I should be between 800-1000 calories a day, but focus on protien, 60-80g a day....

Their plan had around 900 calories a day but I am a little more active than their average patient. I am getting over 80g of Protein a day

I am also 6 weeks out and also active. I am taking in between 900-1100 calories per day and burning between 200-400, so it all works out to between about 800-1000 when it is all said and done. I am steadily losing weight.....40 pounds to date....with 15 off before surgery. I don't want to lose it all in the first 4 months. I hope it continues to go at this rate or even a little slower as it will allow me to work on toning my body as the fat is coming off so there is not a big need, or maybe less need for plastic surgery.

I notice a huge difference in my body in 8 weeks (including preop), so I am thrilled.

Don't worry so much about the calories if you are losing weight. You are right to focus on Protein and exercise and a change in your lifestyle. I don't think everyone is the same or needs the same number of calories and you should do what you body is telling you to do!

I work out daily (except Sundays) and usually do an hour on the elliptical or the stair monster, as I affectionally call the basturd. lol. I have been eating 700-900 calories; however, last week, I have noticed an uptick in my calories. My job is changing and change in life for me is a stress and equates a trigger. Wish it wasn't because change is inevitable, but... it's where I'm at now. So at most I go to 1300 but usually 1000 to 1100. I feel like my body does better at 800 ish whenever I'm trying to lose weight. Probably 1300-1500 if and when I get to maintenance, but I totally give myself the option to change that as I am a woman (and that's what we seem to do, lol) and IDK because I've never stayed in maintenance long enough and concentrated on my caloric intake long term to know.

I was a self pay, so I don't have a NUT. So please note, I am probably like the "blind leading the blind" writing a response, but here you go for my two cents. Please don't attempt to spend it elsewhere lol.

Simply said.... DO focus on Protein, exercise and Water. Continually challenge yourself with your workouts, vary what you eat but focus on Protein intake first and Clear liquids in between meals. The rest? It just seems to fall into place.

I had between 450 and 650 calories during my losing phase. I'm in maintenence and to maintain I need to stay right around 1200 calories per day. To get over 1000 calories in back then, I'd have had to be eating a lot, which I could not do, or I'd have to have been eating really high calorie foods. I know I was 'low' but I was healthy and felt good. I kept in close contact with the nurse and dietitian. Everybody is different, what does your physician say? Are you losing weight fairly consistantly? We all go up and down a little before our bodies want to "let go" of two lbs and move on to the next lb or two!!

I will be six months post op on September 1st. My start weight was 228, my goal weight is 110, and my current weight is 131. I have lost 97 pounds so far. I am in no way an expert but I know that I tend to make excuses for why I can eat things- ex. I worked out harder today... Etc... So when I had the sleeve I made a commitment to myself to get the weight off before I had a chance to feel disappointed at slow loss or to rationalize why I can eat more. My typical day is between 400 and 600 calories. I average approx 1/2 to 1 hour of exercise a day. Anything over 800 calories does seem high to me but I am not a nutritionist or an expert by any means. :)

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

        I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.
