Devastated...and A Little Relieved

Recommended Posts

I went to my surgeon't appt. yesterday. I had lost 10 lbs according to her scale in the last 5 weeks. I have had all my tests, my psych already sent my surgeon her approval, so the only thing I need to get done is my EGD. My surgeon said if i can get it done fast then I could potentially have surgery in 2 weeks. The office assistant said it would be closer to 3 weeks in her experience with approval time, also there is a possibility that they will ask for 3 months of documented weigh ins (have that) or even 6 months. So I was crazy excited.

Then I found out that my insurance most likely won't cover the sleeve with a civilian surgeon (military insurance). CRUSHED!

Then I found out that there may be a loop hole. I am on required extended release medication so I can't have the Band or Gastric bypass. So slight possibility of approval.

Also found out if I go to a military hospital they will cover it 100%. Closest military hospital is 300 miles away. So lots of good and bad...having trouble not being a little emotional about the whole thing. I am just going to stay on track, get my EGD and just hope the insurance will approve. If not I will talk to the military hospital to see how much I can do locally before I can have surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
