Rating Protein Shakes

Hey I saw there is a rating Protein powders topic so i thought it would be best to start my own topic about rating Protein shakes.

Let's keep this discussion related to pre-made protein shakes, not powders.

So far I've tried 5 different protein shakes, only 1 of which I actually like. I'm in my pre op but I'm getting sleeved this Tuesday and I have to decide which Protein shake to live with once I get sleeved. So far ive tried the following,

-Lean Muscle Meal from GNC (26g protein) - disgusting almost threw up

-Muscle Milk from Wawa - ew couldnt drink it

-GNC Total Lean Shake (25g protein) - horrible didnt throw up but couldnt drink it

-Pure Protein Shake from GNC (35g protein) - disgusting chalky taste couldnt drink it

-Bolthouse Farms Protein Plus Shake From Giant (delicious, best shake ive drinken so far). The whole bottle has 64grams of protein in it. However the sugar is high (26g per serving). While I love drinking this now, i dont know if I can after i get sleeved because the most sugar I can have is 15g per serving but its really good.

I've ordered some more protein shakes online from Bariatric Supplement and also im going to Sams Club to purchase Premier Protein shakes. But again both of these protein shakes hardly have any sugar in them, and they may not taste as good as my favorite Bolthouse farms shake.

I just wish I can find a protein shake with 20-30g of protein per serving and like 10-15g of sugar per serving so it actually taste good, so far the only one i love is bolthouse farms.

anyone have any other suggestions for shakes i can try?

If your biggest problem is taste & convenience, I have a couple recommendations. Due to convenience I find myself using Premier Nutrition protien drinks. 11oz 1g sugar, 30g protien Taste wise

  • I personally prefer the powder to the premade shakes. I associate premade with processed foods (silly I know) but I check and compare the amount of sodium and the ingredients in them. IsoPure premad

  • Isopure Zero Carb is the best I have found, the Dutch chocolate and Cookies and Cream are delicious and I don't have to add anything else to them except my Skim Plus milk. Two scoops give 50 grams o

Check out the OhYeah! Shakes. They come in lots of flavors. The are high protein... 32 grams and taste great.

Shakeology anyone?! Idk the website totally sold me on it but before i place my order i thought id ask you guys:)

The regular shakes look fine. I wouldn't touch their vegan shakes, best I can tell, they don't have all the ammino acids you need.

Now I'll tell you why there is no way in the world I would buy from them. This is a MLM hustle. The product is way overpriced $120 for enough to make 30 shakes.

Caveat emptor, to many companies jump into this market with huge promises, claiming to give you the world in a glass. TBH, I don't believe this can be nearly as beneficial as they claim. And if it were, they wouldn't be marketing it via MLM. People would be beating a path to their door without them having to pay down lines. If you do decide to buy it don't be surprised when they try to make you a "coach" and offer you a "great earning opportunity" along with discounted product

I am a coach as I said but I don't pay anything to be one and I honestly haven't sold a thing. That is why I call myself a "discount coach" I signed to be one just for the discount and I don't have to do anything for it. My husband likes some of their workouts. I would not pay for the coach fees if it were not free and when my husband retires from Active Duty I will quit and pay full price.Notice I haven't given you any of my website details nor will I bc I don't even care if you buy through me or not. I just suggested shakeology bc I like the way they taste... I am not sold on green berry flavor I am too scared to even try....

But do you think they work? How long have you been using it and do you think they have worked?

What do you mean by do they work? I am pre op so I am not sure how they will work after surgery. I use them as a Meal Replacement at Breakfast time now and like them I feel like I get a little energy burst when I drink them so I was reading the label to check for hidden caffeine but haven't seen any must be all the fruit and veg stuff??. The shakes meet the requirements recommended by my clinic but are a little high in carbs @17 my clinic wants 15 or less. The shakes are thicker than other shakes at least the powder mix ones are and they are not good warm. If you look for it one of the reps or the site might have sample sizes for you to try so you are not trying them at the crazy price. I was mistaken about RTDs apparently they are not RTD they are invidual packets to take along for when you are on the go.I thought they had bottles but was confused...

On the website they claim to improve and speed up weightloss. I was just noticed have you noticed an impact on your weightloss?

I don't know that they really speed it up. I know that I feel more energized when I drink them and tend to be more active because of the energy and that activity does speed weightloss.

This isn't exactly clear, but one thing I do is mix 1packet ocean spray cran-cherry & a scoop of nectar cherry to 1liter of water, or a a packet of cran peach & a scoop of fuzzy navel to 1 liter.

I think they taste pretty good. Another thing I've been doing the last couple days is mixing a scoop of nectar with 2oz of water to make a protien packed whey shot that actually tasts pretty decent.
