  1. Hello everyone, I've been lurking here for months. I am getting sleeved this Tuesday by Dr. David Wernsing at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philly. I made my first appointment in February, and it took me that time to complete all my pre op tasks and pre op diet for insurance. Insurance approved it right away. I have Independence Blue Cross. I also have obstructive sleep apnea. I am 5'7 and almost 300 pounds, my goal is to lose 100 pounds and I hope I can attain this goal.
  2. Hi Guys, I'm 29yo, I've had my sleeve on August 20th. I was 302 pounds when i got sleeved. I am now 207 pounds. Everything with my surgery went smoothly. I am from Philly and got my surgery done in Philly at Pennsylvania hospital. My surgeon was Dr. David Wernsing. Over the last month I lost 22 pounds. Since Friday i started feeling pains in the middle right part of my body, below my ribcage. I believe it's my gallbladder. When my body is not moving it's like a dull pain. On a scale from 1-10 it's like 2-3. But when I move around or walk up/down stairs, or try to sleep (im a side sleeper) or drive a vehicle, the pain goes from a 2 to like a 8, to a very sharp pain. It feels like it's been getting worse over the past few days. I searched this forum and it seems like I may possibly have gallstones, and may need my gallbladder removed. I am now paranoid that this is the case. I have an appointment today with my doctor to find out what is really the problem and I guess I will have to get an ultrasound or catscan of the affected area.. Has anybody else have this problem, or have had something like this? Is this really my gallbladder that is is in pain? If so, how did this happen, is it because of me losing weight too fast or what causes this? I have been taking Nexium since my surgery, I thought that was supposed to prevent something like this, but I guess not,
  3. hi everyone, thanks for all the responses so far, and i believe you are all right its probably gallstones. ill let everyone know what it is once i get it checked out at the hospital. im surprised if so many patients have issues with their gallbladder than how come they don't make most patients get the gallbladder removed prior to getting sleeved? that doesnt make any sense to me. also if the gallbladder usually has problems for people who are sleeved, why dont they give medicine to prevent gallstones? i dont get it. or does this only happen in a minority of people? im confused.
  4. I got sleeved on Aug 14th and I weighed about 301 pounds, I am now down to 269

    Unjury- Soup?!?!

thats because you didn't follow the directions and you're doing it wrong. in order for it to dissolve correctly you can only mix it in warm water, if you try mixing it in cold, cool, or too hot/boiling water you will start seeing clumps. believe me i ran into the same problem and made sure i only mix it in warm water which is what the directions say.

    Unjury- Soup?!?!

I ordered some samples. I mixed the Unjury chicken powder with Swanson chicken broth, taste really good. Also recommend mixing it with Ramen noodle chicken seasoning, or shimp seasoning or beef flavor, whatever you like, but i def. recommend adding those additional things to it to make it taste good. be creative.

I finally found something i like and it DOESN'T have any nasty whey aftertaste. ....Unjury Chicken soup! I make the mix with 8z of warm water as directed, then I add an additional 8z of Swanson chicken broth, taste really good! just like chicken soup! a little salty but whatever it doesnt have any disgusting whey taste. Sometimes I also mix it ramen noodle chicken flavor, and shrimp flavor, i keep it creative! yum..
  8. Hey I saw there is a rating Protein powders topic so i thought it would be best to start my own topic about rating Protein shakes. Let's keep this discussion related to pre-made protein shakes, not powders. So far I've tried 5 different protein shakes, only 1 of which I actually like. I'm in my pre op but I'm getting sleeved this Tuesday and I have to decide which Protein shake to live with once I get sleeved. So far ive tried the following, -Lean Muscle Meal from GNC (26g protein) - disgusting almost threw up -Muscle Milk from Wawa - ew couldnt drink it -GNC Total Lean Shake (25g protein) - horrible didnt throw up but couldnt drink it -Pure Protein Shake from GNC (35g protein) - disgusting chalky taste couldnt drink it -Bolthouse Farms Protein Plus Shake From Giant (delicious, best shake ive drinken so far). The whole bottle has 64grams of protein in it. However the sugar is high (26g per serving). While I love drinking this now, i dont know if I can after i get sleeved because the most sugar I can have is 15g per serving but its really good. I've ordered some more protein shakes online from Bariatric Supplement and also im going to Sams Club to purchase Premier Protein shakes. But again both of these protein shakes hardly have any sugar in them, and they may not taste as good as my favorite Bolthouse farms shake. I just wish I can find a protein shake with 20-30g of protein per serving and like 10-15g of sugar per serving so it actually taste good, so far the only one i love is bolthouse farms. http://bolthouse.com...hocolate/detail anyone have any other suggestions for shakes i can try?

I tried them all and their all nasty, i dont recommend any of them, they all have that horrible whey aftertaste. damn i must of spend so far like $200 just trying different protein powders and shakes and the only one i like so far is bolthouse farms but the sugar is really high, guess thats the only way to mask the whey after taste. i also ate some greek yogurt and that has 20g of protein, but it's really thick and hard to eat, especially since i just got sleeved last week, and also that greek yogurt doesnt have whey so idk what kind of protein is in it and i dont know if thats the right protein i need to have in my body. im so lost right now, must i really down these disgusting whey drinks that taste like garbage? cant believe there is nothing out there that can successfully mask that whey aftertaste, there has to be something out there for me. i need to find something already. please anyone? please help. i just placed an order for unjury chicken Soup, maybe that taste good? who knows, im trying anything right now and desperate to find something that taste good, anything.

Just an update for this thread I tried even more Protein shakes. -Special K Protein shake (10g protein) -got from CVS. delicious taste, doesnt have that whey aftertaste, unfortunately it's 18g sugar per serving, and the protein isn't enough daily unless i want to down 6 a day, however it was tasty. -Slim Fast (10g protein) - Also got from CVS, also great tasting, same deal as Special k they also have 18g sugar per serving, but it taste good, no nasty whey aftertaste. however too little protein so i dont want to drink these all day. However I did purchase the Slim Fast High Protein Powder as well off of Amazon and it has double the protein, I will update this thread on Monday when I try it. -Ensure Protein Shake (got from CVS, 25g protein, 5g sugar) - didn't like it, too much whey aftertaste, just couldn't drink it, don't recommend, but kudos for putting lots of protein in it. -Nestle Boost Shake Calorie Smart (got from CVS,16g protein, 4g sugar) I puked it out, couldn't even barely take a tip, extreme whey aftertaste. -Atkins Advantage (from CVS, 15g protein, 1g sugar). Don't recommend, still too much whey aftertaste and just doesn't taste good. -EAS Advantage Carb Control Shake (from CVS, 17g protein, 0g sugar) couldnt drink it, too much whey taste, didn't like it. well so far not so good today, the only shakes I liked and didn't have that disgusting whey aftertaste are the ones with too little protein in it and lot of sugar. I guess the sugar helps to hide the whey taste which is a good thing, i just wish those had more protein in it. So i did purchase more Protein drinks and I will rate them in the next few days. I purchased Slimfast powder high protein, Chicke Nutrition powder, Oh - yea! Protein shakes, and i also will go to Sams Club to buy Premiere protein shakes and ill also go to Vitamin Shoppe to buy BodyTech chocolate. boy this sure is a lot of work to find a shake I like.
