Newbie Getting Ready For Seminar

Recommended Posts

After researching and wishing for nearly four years, I am finally going to a seminar. Yes, first actual one. Why? I don't like public. I don't feel comfortable outside my home. Yes, being overweight has turned me a bit agoraphobic.

My insurance has a clause in it that specifically says NO BARIATRICS!! So that sucks but I am still going through with it. I like the sleeve better than the band for all the same reasons others have mentioned.

I am going to just travel a few hours away for my surgery. Just scared of the tests leading up to it all. I don't have any other conditions (besides being too big) so I don't see a problem. I just see it as a hurdle in my way.

When I lose weight, what do I want to do the most? Run. And take my kids to an amusement park and do everything with them- not sit on a bench and have them check in from time to time.

Good luck to you, I had struggles as well. I am finally nearing the end hopefully after 5 years of uncertainty of to have WLS or not. I am ready and excited, I have my seminar next Monday and my psych and surgeon consult on Thursday. I can't wait!!!

Hey, Dexter. I attended the seminar tonight. I am excited and anxious all at the same time. I understand where you are coming from about wanting to do things with your kids. I can't wait to ride the roller coaster with my daughter for the first time- and she's 14!

I did an online seminar that was great for me since the Dr is a few hours away. I have been to other seminars over the years during my Quest to have weight loss surgery. Usually ones that came to my town. My insurance decided to drop bariatric treatment about the time I was getting things started, and then the self pay price was still 20 to 30 thousand. Now there are so many programs and surgeons out there willing to charge much less than they used to. I found one in my State since I didn't really look foreword to an awkward plane ride. I just have to drive for two hours to get there but I think in the end it will be worth the wait and the aggrevation.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
