Surgery Next Thursday!

Recommended Posts

So my time has finally come! I am having VSG next Thursday! (8/16) I am beyond nervous. I've heard the first 2 days after surgery are the worst! Does anyone care to offer advice or suggestions? I need some words of encouragement and to help me relax!

I think going into it knowing your first 2 days will suck will make it better. I had no idea and was shocked at how much pain I was in and how wiped out I was. I brought a bunch of stuff to the hospital but didn't use any of it. Once I got home I was so much better. Just being in your own bed and away from the constant interuptions in the hospital was a blessing.

I'm 11 weeks out and love my sleeve. I've had no complications and am losing at a good rate. I'm able to tolerate all foods without any issues. I have zero regrets.

Good luck with your surgery. Give yourself the time you need to heal :)

I was in quite of bit of pain when I woke up in recovery and was immediately given pain meds. The next day and a half while in hospital I didn't need meds.....very sore but not painful. I walked as often as I could in hospital and focused on getting liquids down. Having a csection before was almost worse for me......good luck! You'll be fine....

Hi, I had my sleeve on Monday July 30 th, so about 10 days ago. I will say waking up in recovery I felt pretty bad, but after they gave me pain meds and for nausea, I felt pretty good other than gas pressure/pain, I knew walking was they only way to cope with that, so I started asking to walk as soon as I got to a room, I was up and walking and I walked, walked, and walked! My best advice WALK and alway take pain meds, don't wait till you are hurting bad to ask for them, most you can have every 4 hrs! Good Luck!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
