Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone!!!

I guess for me my success to date has come from just really being in the right space mentally to have the surgery. Also my dear great guy (married 16 years!!) is supportive in just the right way- never says what I shouldn't eat and stuff like that, but always praises me and makes me feel like the tough days are worth it. And... they are!

I am so glad to have found this space here!!!!

DeltaDawn: I know exactly what you are talking about. My DH has been my number one supporter and fan in everything I have done.....whether I have succeeded or not. He is genuine and sincere with his comments. When I fail he helps to guide me back to where I'm suppose to be.

He never commented, belittled, criticized nor made me feel embarassed or ashamed when I was at my heaviest. If I got down on myself he would remind me what I want and that I know how to get it....and then would encourage me by offering his help.

The fact that I have someone like this in my corner sure does make this journey a whole lot tolerable and manageble for me.

Carol

Oh man do I hear ya there. I thank my lucky stars every second (okay, maybe only twice a day....when I go to bed and when I awake) that I have Mr Yoda.

Lial,

I've got to ask... where do you live? I am in the Arctic region of Northern Quebec... you know Inuit village, fly in communities, ski-doo to the store... and we have no snow yet!!!! It is going up to 10 today!!!!!

(BTW- I used to hate winter too when I lived in Southern Ontario... I have just gotten used to it by now!!!!! - okay maybe I am lying)

Buffalo was hard hit last night with a blizzard; there has been power outages and now there are school closures. As usual, Toronto has escaped the weather. We seem to live, largely snow-free, inside a snow belt. They say that all that concrete has created a mini-climate here.

I live between Winnipeg and Thunder Bay. It's winter here. The snowplows and the graders are all out in full force.

I live along Hwy #1 and although we are not that much further north than Winnipeg we are considered north! The hwys are closed by Kenora due to an accident with 3 transport trucks. Oh ya the only reason I "accept" winter is because snow is how my husband makes a living and keeps in the lifestyle that I am accustomed to!!

Yeah, I'd rather be on the beach in the glorious sun rather than hanging out with the "snow" bums. Our snow didn't last long - enough to get into the spirit for some shopping and then warmed up to lose it (I don't know how I feel about a green Christmas.) I'm aching to build a real snowman.

(Yeah, snowmen are my fetis! Love them to death)

Have a great Christmas everyone! Hugs.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
