Preparing For Surgery

Recommended Posts

Getting sleeved August 17, and I was reading different things to become prepared for surgery! I have ordered protien powders, drinks and my liquid multi Vitamin, but what othe Vitamins does everyone else recommend? B12, fishoil, folic acid, Biotin? Any that aren't hard to get down?

Also, was looking into preparing food for my soft food phase...was reading a thread where people prepared their food ahead of time (food processed and froze the portions like premade baby food) does anyone recommend doing this? Sounds like a wonderful plan to me, just curious what are good things to make and freeze? I bought a magic bullet that I'm excited to use!

Any other helpful tips! Trying to prep now' thanks

I would wait until you talk to your NUT to order any Vitamins or supplements. Some people don't need some supplements - they depend on your labs.

If you feel motivated, go ahead and prepare food ahead of time. I know in the past I've made and frozen just about everything I've ever cooked and almost all of it has reheated well. Soup, potatoes, Beans, etc, so I'm sure most pureed/soft recipes you can find will turn out great that way.

I would make sure to buy Gas-x strips. I have said it a zillion times, but they are one thing that has been sooooo helpful for me through the healing process lol. I should be a spokesperson.

Also, start walking now. Getting some exercise can help cardiac and pulmonary systems to make surgery easier on your body.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
