Stalled And Frustrated.

Recommended Posts

Hi all -

I had surgery June 13 and the weight flew off. It came off so fast I felt like a rockstar! However, at four weeks my stall began and I haven't lost much of anything since then.

I'm back on regular foods and not doing a good job on my Protein Drinks (loved them before and holy cow they taste awful now...including the kind that allegedly have no taste).

What kinds of foods were you all eating to get you past this terrible hurdle? It's so depressing - I am so hoping for 100 pounds by 4 or 5 months, but at this rate, I definitely won't hit it.

Help...

I totally feel your pain! I was sleeved June 4th and lost weight like crazy and now I have been virtually stalled for weeks. It is so frustrating. I force myself to have my Protein shake every morning, even though it has ZERO appeal to me anymore. I am on normal foods, but I am sure I am not getting 60-80 grams of Protein as recommended. Frankly, I don't even enjoy eating anymore.

I was told that when you hit a stall in the beginning, it is very likely you are not eating enough protein and need to increas it. I have been thinking I may need to try drinking one more Protein Shake each day. That would put me at 60 grams of protein. Based on what you have said in your post, the idea probably holds even less appeal to you than it does me!

I will be interested to read the other responses from the veterans on here. Hopefully we can both get through this and start losing again!

Wow! Sounds like you guys are losing at a good speed to me. I was sleeved 6/15 and have only lost 27 lbs so far. Went through a week long stall, and have just started to see some movement again. I read on here that if your not getting enough calories and Water your body will stop losing. check out this web site, it may help...www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators.html

Everyone who is stalled, repeat after me: "If I follow my instructions and be patient, I WILL lose weight!!"

Now...repeat ad nauseum....

Shave your carbs down and increase your cardio. That got me out of my six week long stall.

Don't put such pressure of a particular number by a certain date. Small goals for small periods of time are good, but don't set yourself up for such frustration. Just do what you can do, and know that it will come off in due time. 5 years from now you won't care if 100 lbs came off in four months or eight months. It just won't matter. Relaaaaaaaax. ;)

I agree with Dooter--it will happen. Stalls suck, but they're temporary IF you stick with your program. If you can't do the Protein Shakes, make your own from "real food" items--use Greek yogurt, milk of some sort, flavorings, and ice cubes. I added nonfat milk powder to mine to up the Protein, but you could also add Egg Beaters (they're pasteurized) to up the protein--you can flavor to your heart's content with sugar-free syrups, cocoa powder, instant coffee, sugar-free pudding mix, sugar-free Jello, whatever floats your boat... and you can get it all at a regular grocery store. Be sure you're getting enough fluids--dehydration will stall you out super fast. Hang in there!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
