Way to go! I am excited about that aspect of this whole business as well. All things being equal, this is the LAST time I'll have to lose this weight. I've lost about three whole people over my lifetime trying to stay slim. This is it. ;) Congratulations on getting to this point.

Aloha Mary from Australia / Texas! Welcome to this great resource....isn't wonderful that we can all connect from around the world? I am also 5'3 and started at 223 lbs last October. I am now 7 lbs from my goal weight having lost almost 80 lbs (and the last 10 are taking forever to come off!). I had my surgery done in Germany and a month later started traveling for 4 months all through Europe, back across the US and we are now in Hawaii until the end of Sept. And will then go back to Amsterdam.

I have to laugh when people ask me if I'm worried I will gain it back....I was one of those who chose not to tell people about the surgery. I just smile and say, I really don't think I will.....

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Wow, my stats are so similar to yours. I'm 5'2.5" and my surgery was July 3, 2012. My weight at the beginning was 227 and now I'm 193, down 34 :) I know some lose quicker, but I'm trying to be happy with me. Today I really noticed that "I FEEL GOOD"!!! I have no surgery regrets, but I do have a concern. I feel I can eat more than I should be able to. I can eat 8+ ounces, not always, but sometimes. Then I read that others can only eat 3-4 ounces at a time. What's up with that?!?!

Aloha SummerGirl.....congratulations on your 34 lbs! That's huge. I know when I was at 193 I was feeling pretty svelte.....everything is relative; I thought that if I could just get in the 150's I would be in heaven...and I was, but then I got into the 140's and now I think the 130's are very doable. Take your time; I have been blogging every Sunday for 11 months and it has taken me this long to get to goal....(almost there, within 1 lb.....could happen this Sunday!!!). It you average my weight loss out it comes to less than 2 lbs a week and that has worked out well for me! Eating 8 oz though does seem like a lot; I'd check with your dr or nut about it. I still can't eat that much and I certainly couldn't at 3 months out.

I'm the same. For a variety of reasons I chose not to tell people about the surgery. Since nearly everyone departs SandyTown for the summer, and I stayed, it was easy to point out I've been losing weight since April... it just took awhile for people to notice. :) Congratulations on being so close to your goal. Definitely worth a celebration when you get there!

I took some clothes to the tailor last week and I asked her to take them in fairly tight....she said, "what if you gain weight again?" I said, well, I don't think that will happen and in fact, I'll probably lost 5 to 10 more.....such a nice feeling.

Oh, and I reached the top range of my goal weight yesterday!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
