August 10Th Sleever!

Recommended Posts

I am so excited and can't wait to begin living! I envision the transformation that is about to take place and can hardly contain myself! I begin my two week liquid diet on 7/26 and go for my pre op on 8/3. My biggest concern right now is my 2 week pre op liquid diet. I feel like I will be a walking time bomb during that time. Is anyone else having the same fear?

Yes that is my biggest fear. I don't know how I will do this. Keep in touch with how you are doing,

I was on a 7 days liquid diet! Go for sugar free Jello and popcicles! They saved me and you can have as much as you want!!! I doubled up on my Protein Shakes and that helped me keep the "full" feeling as well. The first couple of days are pretty tough. Check with your doctor about being able to drink a cup of coffee to keep the headaches away. My nutritionist also recommended Tomato juice to help. I ended up losing 19 pounds before surgery and I'm down 29 pounds total since then (just 2 weeks and 2 days now). Good luck! You can do this!!!!!!!!

Hi All - I am also scheduled for August 10th surgery! I am very excited about this and thrilled to have found this support group. I was feeling quite alone until I "joined" yesterday! I have been reading tons and I like the idea of setting mini-goals leading up to the all liquid diet. So today I started with Protein Drinks for Breakfast and will work to liquid for both breakfast and lunch next week. I love the idea of the unflavored Protein Powder, because I can mix it into Soups and broth. I have been off sugar for over 2 years now, as it helped minimize the hot flashes I was getting! So sweets is not my worry, feeling full is...and I know the Protein will help with that. The other thing I am doing is using handweights to work my arms and walking every day. I listen to Kelly Clarksons "What doesn't kill you - stronger" while I do my arm work out and then listen to "its a new day" by Will.i.am and :Fighter" by Christina Aguilera while I walk. Another motivating song - Good Feeling by Flo Rida. All very postive songs to help me think about taking care of the "NEW ME"!!! (These are my favorite songs from Zumba class that I started in January but had to stop in February because I broke my foot - my weight caused a stress fracture...I plan to reward myself by going back to Zumba (beginning class of course) and feeling sexy again someday!

Hi Jaoleen, I see we have the same date and would love to go through this journey with you. I went and bought most of my liquids over the weekend. I did a couple of dry runs and thought I would die or kill someone! I'm not worried about cheating since the consequences far outweigh the momentary lapse. What kind of unflavored Protein did u try, was it Unjury?

Hi Trifactor! I am with you all the way! I haven't tried any unflavored Protein yet but am planning on trying the sample pack from injury. I do like the boost high Protein Drink and ensure but don't really like the powders that much. I have started searching online for protein drink recipes! Do you find yourself living in a surreal world? I see people everyday at work and I think hey if you only knew what I know! I feel like I am keeping a big juicy secret -'do you feel the same?

I ordered my Unjury powder sample pack and the unflavored Protein powder...my heart is racing as I type this! I am so looking forward to losing this weight and keeping it off for life. Don't you just love the feeling of hope you have when you think about the future now? Have a great day All!!!

I know, I have been counting down and it's hard to wrap my brain around it! I get excited everytime I think about my future me! I have already started my liquid diet, although my date to officially start is Wednesday. I just ordered my unflavored Unjury containers. I bought Isopure and Basic Essentials and it was horrible. I am returning it tomorrow!

Oh good to know - I have been traveling the past 2 weeks for work and have been worrying about how I will do liquid while flying around! I figured powder will have to be it - at least until I can get to a grocery store or Walmart each week. I am pretty sure I won't be traveling the month of August, so I am hoping to have it all working by that first trip! I keep swinging back and forth from "wow this is so exciting and cool" to " oh what am I doing, is this the right thing"!! LOL I keep reading what everyone else says so I know I am not alone in my roller coaster thoughts! My pre-op starts next Friday(week from this Friday) but I am planning on starting on Monday the 30th. I told my husband he is taking me out to Carabbas this weekend and I am having bread for dinner and will have my dinner for dinner the next day! They say don't do the last supper deal - but I figure I need to have that final meal to close that chapter in my life. Then it is full speed ahead!!

Hi Alliecat1095, I am doing fine now.so sorry for the very very late reply. My stay in the hospital ended up being a couple of days longer than anticipated. When I got home I had a bit of a hard time adjusting. Then I went through the "why am I not losing any more weight since I got out of the hospital". I started my journey weighing 265, my pre-op weight was 239. I am 5 Weeks post-op now weighing 213 a total of 52lbs lost! I just figured I would have lost more weight after the surgery, but I realize now that i'm doing great! Sorry for the rambling, just decided to hit you with a full update : )

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
