May 2006 Band Crew ~ September Chat

Recommended Posts

I took some pictures yesterday and posted them on my Myspace page as a slide show. Check it out!

http://www.myspace.com/justduckie5

It shows my pre-op pictures (April 30 -- day before my surgery) and yesterday. My DH says that the pictures don't do me justice, that in real life I move so much different and hold myself different that I look like I've lost more than the pictures show. I don't know if it's just him talking (That's why I love my DH!!!) or if it's true. I know I've had lots of people comment on how much weight I've lost, so who knows.

It's raining here today. We need the rain, it's been so dry. I hope everyone has a good day!

drewslou, you look so happy. Life is good!

Just wanted to update you all on my nausea two weeks after a fill and pass on some info that was new to me.

Looks like I had a sinus infection that produced serious drainage into my pouch and stomach which was stuffing me up, causing nausea. I've been on antibiotics for 24 hours and already I feel better. Another nuance to the band. A little gross, sorry. A new one for me and I'll pass it on....excessive nasal drainage can stop us up. And irritate things and cause problems.

The good news, it did make me feel full and I lost some weight!

They offered me a job working in the office.:faint:

I guess they have seen me so much they figure I ought to go to work for them.

Drews & Marci - Your pictures are great! I will get mine up soon--promise!

Health1st - I'm glad your problem was not with the band and easily treatable.

Paladin - Please say "HI" to 3Loves for me!

My Fill - I got my 4th fill today. My doc has been giving me pretty agressive fills (.5cc each time) and today he did the same. Right after I drank the Water he gave me I got a golfball. He took 3 cc's out and the Water went down. He had me drink a few more cups just to make sure.

I think I now have true restriction. I just ate lunch (I don't have to do liquids after a fill) and only ate about half of what I usually eat. I will definately have to be careful for a while and I will probably have to drink some of my calories. I might even be able to afford some strawberries and icecream for desert!

Howdy all!

I got my 2nd fill on Friday- 1.8cc- total of 5.8cc. for the first 2 days,

I'm thinkin', well crap, that didn't work, then, all of a sudden, day 3,

badabing badaboom- houston, we have restriction!! This is what it's really supposed to be like! I am so totally stoked! :D am able to just have what I'm supposed to, and it lasts for hours! I have more energy, and, and, and, wow!! I've already lost 3 pounds- on my way to my turkey take off goal of 20! yay me!

also a couple of NSV's-

my cute hubby and I were snugglin one am and I had to have him move his leg cuz it was hurting my hip bone-- what? hip BONE? I have one of those? :) it was very cool. Then that night playing kick the can with the kids in the backyard and I WON!! yep, cought the kids and almost can outrun them! woohoo! I haven't felt this great in a long time - is it obvious? don't know what I'd do without this forum- you guys are great!!

have a great day!

LindaV oh so happy with # 4! :clap2:

Kato the hip bones connected to the thigh bone thrill! :D

Me? In Indiana for work. Travel all the time. Most times its 2 or 3 weeks then home for a few but this project needs extra attention so I was nominated :) Most likely here till the end of the month.

Weekends go by soooo fast. Hangin with the GKids and spoiling the heck outta them. Love it!

I just wish they'd find me someplace warm to go for winter.... but alas... it'll probably be somewhere in Canada....

Have a great one banders!

Have you called your surgeon's office to ask them what they think? It sounds like you may be filled too much but I'd like more info. What have you been eating (solids - not the liquids), how much? How often? How long have you been taking to eat the meal? What size are your bites? Have you been chewing to mush?

I'd be glad to give you more input once I hear from you again.

Thanks,

I have a 12cc vg band and I am filled to 8cc. It took about 3-4 days after that fill (which I think is weird) to gain the restriction which I'm loving right now. Breads are a big "pain", seriously. And no more spaghetti either. I try to stay off the scale during the week, I check it only on Mondays (okay, so maybe I cheat a time or two during the week) and don't consider any other weight as a gain or loss. Only that which is recorded on Mondays! Although I have restriction from my fill on the 18th, I haven't lost any weight. Hopefully it will come. I notice that I sometimes lose weight 5lbs at a time. Nothing for a long time, then as Kato said, badabing, badaboom, it comes off.

jcby, thanks for asking.

I did see my lapband Doc and also my GP. I had a sinus infection producing serious drainage into my pouch and stomach which was clogging me up, causing nausea, especially in the AM after draining all night. I was drinking only Isopure for days. Started a few mushies tonight but still feel pretty restricted. The restriction may go away when I get over the sinus infection. We'll see. I've been on antibiotics for 36 hours and I feel better, nausea comes and goes. At least I feel that my band is OK.

VG with 1.0cc

Have not lost like you all have though. I'm the slow poke in the bunch.

Good news, will go home for a whole week next week! I just hope I can remember where I live?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
