Wheezy Whispers-AKA September's Goals

Recommended Posts

Aw, Mandi, ;)

Are you making plans to have some taken out? That nurse who was getting trained, is she now able to do them?

Nah... that lady won't be able to do them until after November. At that time Dr. C is actually going to be there for it, so.. IF I still think I need a little out, or maybe a TINY bit more put in, I could possibly do it then. At least it's good to know that if I need to, I can always go to her. :)

And Leila, congrats on staying the same weight at least, that's always nice.

Well, I only have a few minutes. I am off to the wedding in Montreal tomorrow and we are having family stay over tonight from the big city (Toronto). Tomorrow we are having brunch here and heading to Montreal at about noon.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Thanks Irish and Argon, just back from the wedding. It was beautiful and I've never seen a happier bride, she was glowing!!!

The wedding reception was a never ending flow of food. The meal had 6 courses and the main entrée was eventually served at about 9:30 pm. The desert was served at about 10:30 pm and at about midnight, a buffet was served.

As all of these courses were served, I observed how much I ate compared to the other at my table. Of course, my hb ate everything and had 2 deserts, but everyone could eat most of the food put in from of them. I, on the other hand only ate about 1/4 of each course and none of my desert. This is the first time in a while that I realized that the band is actually working. I found that as time went on that I was able to eat more and more, but it is still working even though I am not losing weight at this time.

This brings me to a very important question. I am going for my first fill Oct 5th, I have a 10cc band. How much in your experience should I get filled? I'm thinking that I should go conservative.

What do you think?

Well... I think they'll pretty much chose that for you! Since you DO live so far away though, they probably will be fairly conservative.

Glad you had a good time at the wedding! And awesome that you only could eat 1/4 of each course! Did any of the people you ate with know that you'd been banded? Did any one seem to notice you weren't eating much?

Except for my hb, no one else knew about the band. My sister-in-law asked me if I was feeling O.K. My brother-in-law was just happy that I shared my shrimp cocktail with him, other than that no one else really noticed. If they did, they didn't say anything.

Wheezy, i also have a 10cc band. Dr.Cobourn gave me a 4cc fill but that was his choice, i had no say in the matter, so far i am doing okay with that amount.

Irish, obviously with almost 50 lbs, lost the 4cc's are working well for you. Did you have any restriction before your first fill?

Well i thought i did, but Dr.Cobourn did not, he looked at how much weight i had lost from after the surgery, and said i needed i fill, so i had one. I only noticed a slight difference in the amount of food i was eating after the fill, but as long as i keep losing every week i will stick with what i have for now.

I think that you should try discussing how much fill with your fill 'er up specialist. I was reading on the main site that too much fill can be worse than too little. It hurts and for some reason ? you don't lose weight. The TLBC has me scheduled for 3 fills starting mid-Oct and ending mid-Nov. This means that I will be getting one fill every two weeks. Yuck! I am kinda dreading the fills. Good thing I have lotsa demerol left over. I hate needles.

I had my first fill in aug. It wasn;t bad ;just like having your blood work done. I had 1 fill and 2 defills same day .I HATE needles too. Don;t worry about it not that bad.

They usually pull the skin so tight that you don't even feel the needle. But I wouldnt look at it, if needles bother you. It's a bit freaky to watch.

I am a Lab Technologist and for the last 20 years, I have been collecting blood samples. I do more analyzing than collecting but once in a while I do collect the rare blood sample, so I don't think that I would have a problem watching.

Irish, I'm glad you responded. I makes me feel better that you had 4 ccs and still feel OK.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
