It has worked great for me I'm almost at the 4 foot club! I go 3-5 times a week although I haven't gone in the past 2 weeks due to business.

I have a bad back and have to skip 3-4 of the machines and it still works great for me.

Enjoy

I have been a Curves member for 3 years. I have lost 50 lbs. Think of how much I could have lost if I had the band 3 yrs ago.. sigh.

I just had the band put in and I feel like a sloth cause I cant go back till oct 6th.

I love Curves!!!! I just joined a month ago and try to go 3 to 5 times each week. I really miss it on the days I can't go. I wish their hours were more extended, but I have been working hard on fitting it in.

I lost 12 pounds the first month after my weight loss had plateaued for weeks.

I too am thinking of joining Curves, there is one right down the street from me. Can some of you tell me what they have, and how they work their program? I also read something on another thread about a discount enrollment for WLS patients..do you know anything about that? Thanks in advance for any insight!!

I went to curves for a year. I loved it. I have one just 2 blocks from my house and started right after surgery when I was healed enough to do it. For me it was just the ticket. I wanted to join a gym but seeing as I had never done any working out, this was a test run for me. I went 3 times a week and really the inches come off bigtime. It also was to get me into the routine. Now I am going to join a gym as I want a more strenuous work out and want to work with weight training more. I think Curves is a great place to get your feet wet.... I know it was for me.

Kat- Curves is always doing one discount or another, I suggest you call and find out. If they dont have a WLS promo going they are probably having some other kind going...they are really good about that.

I am a slow loser so I desided to try Curves. It has really helped me alot. When I first went I looked at the process and throught this is just to easy it can't make a difference, but it did. I struggle to lose 3 pounds a month and this has really helped me lose inches.

Curves is very supportive if you find the right one. Be careful with your back though. Some of the machines are not very good for those of us who suffer from back pain.

They're popping up like crazy over here, there really must be a niche in the market, I've never been afraid of or intimidated by the gym, but even I like the idea of a 30 minute workout. I love running, I do heaps of it but I am really bad with strength training - I understand the importance of it, I have the desire for it but I just cant seem to prioritise it in my life, and I really do like circuit style training.

I joined Curves the Friday before Labor Day to meet our April 2006 Bandits September Challenge. It's too early to see results, but I'm hopeful. At my age I really need the strength training for my bones.

I joined about two years ago, went for 3 months and quit, but had to keep paying for another year due to their long contract. I have to be honest, I felt like it did nothing for me. I never even worked up a sweat in the 30 minutes I was there. I wasn't sore or anything and felt like I didn't get anything out of it. Therefore, I couldn't work up the motivation to go.

I LOVE CURVES!!!

I joined about a year ago and am still a member. I not only started their exercise program, but also did their six weeks challange (how to eat and loose). The first 6 months I went 3 days a week and strickly followed their high Protein diet and lost about 19 pounds a A LOT of inches.

This was my first "gym" membership, so I was very nervous going into it, but everyone (members, staff, etc.) is so helpful and encouraging. I have not been able to go since surgery (still healing) and have received several phone calls and post cards for the staff to check and make sure everything is okay. I shared with this about my surgery and they were all so supportive.

Most of the Curves have a one week free trial period. If you are not sure if you want to join or not, see if they are offering it and try it for a week.

I just signed up with Curves today. I went in just to look around, but I was really pleased with what I saw. I also really like the fact that I can go to any Curves, not just the one I was at today. To me that is a really big mark in their favor. There are at least 5 within a reasonable driving distance of my house. I go on Monday for my introduction/training on the machines.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
