Hi Klandi,

Looks like you got this thread going again. My scale says I've lost 24lbs. to date. I'm like sunnyside, ready and anxious for my first fill. I've got this far on will power and excersise, I'm ready for a little help from my band! :cursing: By the way, where's Nunya? Never heard of it.

lotzasunshin - I see you had your surgery by Dr. K, how did that go? He sure is alot cheaper, but what about follow up care and where do you have to go for fills? I paid a lot more than that, but all follow up and fills are included. I'm interested because my husband wants it done also.

He is a lot cheaper, but a GREAT doctor! I actually go back to him for fills, It is cheaper than getting them here, everyone wants hundreds of dollars for a few drops of saline. So I pay $150 for a plane ticket, and then $15 for fills at Dr.K's office. LOVE IT!!! Don't know if a plane ticket would be as cheap for you guys in Georgia. But definitely call around you and ask how much fills would be. Make sure to get it in writing though, because I had a bad experience with the office telling me one thing and getting a big unexpected bill. So, it might be more cost effective to go to Denver, unless the fills out there would be cheaper. Good luck to your DH, and Congratz on your great weight loss! So close to goal! I can't wait until I am there!

Glad to see this thread moving again.

I just moved to a new ward, I felt bad because we've left early two sunday's in a row... the first time I was sick, the second time my husband was sick. This week the RS pres and bishop both came by. I hope they don't think we're inactive. LOL  I wanna be like, I SWEAR we come!

we're off today, because it's stake conference, and i refuse to drive all the way to the independence stake center since the liberty stake is right behind my house.

Isn't that annoying?! I lived in Kansas City, MO several years ago, and I'm pretty sure that at a youth conference we did a service project at the Liberty Stake Center.

well, i'm hoping the new temple will bring more people here, and hoping to independence area and they will have enough PH to redraw the boundaries the way they should be

Our stake center is about 2.25 hours away. It's quite a trip to get there. I really feel for those in our branch who have Stake Callings and have to travel there frequently.

I'm wondering if Nunya is the beginning of Nunyabusiness or something similar. I've also never heard of Nunya, Utah.

One of the places we're looking at relocating to is the Kansas City area. We'll have to see if that pans out. I might need doctor recommendations.

Well I'm still here. Life is kind of frustrating right now. My Dad passed away 2 months ago, and I am trying to figure out how to deal with it. Plus my DH has been having lot of health troubles lately. And my weight loss has slowed a TON because of all the stress. I don't think I am getting enough calories, cuz I just can't get things to go down.

Sorry to dump all that, but you asked!

I'm doing well. Struggling to get any more weight off, but I'm down more than 100, so I'm not complaining. I may go for a fill in August. Life is good. I'm running a 5K on the 4th of July. It feels so great to be able to do that.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
