I have lost a total of 126lbs with my sleeve, and excess skin was definately an issue. with dropping the weight in such a quick amount of time (first 90lbs in 7 months) I definately had a large pannus of skin. I had a circular Tummy Tuck this April, which made a huge difference, but not so much in the size of clothing. They removed 13.8lbs of skin off of me but remember that most of this skin is usually what we are used of hanging over our jeans. With the removal of skin, I went from a size 14 pant to a size 12, however made a HUGE difference in how I was able to wear my clothing. Nothing hangs over anymore :)n

How much does it generally cost to remove excess skin? Also how much pain is involved.

I lost 100+ pounds before and my tummy and "front butt" areas looked worse then than they did at my heaviest, where at least everything was smooth-ish. I have been looking into laser lipo... Not Lipo with lasers. It's supposed to be painless, and much, much cheaper than traditional lipo & tummy tucks. It looks like it sorta melts the fat and tightens the skin from the outside, in. The YouTube videos of before and after are really impressive, and best of all, no scars. Maybe that would be an option?

Sounds like it won't do much for the excess skin, which is mostly your problem. I doubt there are a lot of fat deposits still :)

I was just approved for abdominal surgery! I didn't think it would be approved. I'm excited and scared!

Is this procedure called veleshape?

A lot of the excess skin is if you are young enough to still have elasticity to your skin. Of course the more you have to lose -- the more likely-hood of lose skin.

I have 165 pounds to lose and am 60 -- so I expect to have a lot of hanging skin. I'm also blessed to have the funds to get plastic surgery. Being over-whelmed at the AMOUNT of weight I have to lose is my biggest angst.

Blessings,

WeeWers

My arms, stomach and inner thighs are horrible. But I can hide my pannus and thighs with a good girdle. My arms depress me at times. Trying to get insurance to pay for surgery once I lose about 50 more pounds. But I'd still have surgery all over again with same skin issues.

Sorry to revive this thread haha but just wanted to add something I didn't see anyone else add:

I am still fairly young, would love to lose 100pounds as my goal weight. My surgery is November 12th.

To help my skin rebound I purchased an "after surgery" compression suit. I made sure to get one that goes over my shoulders and to the knee for maximum coverage and to prevent it rolling down or up uncomfortably since ideally I'll be wearing it everyday.

If anyone wants the name of the brand, shoot me an email. They come from South America, I got mine on Amazon for a discounted amount, brand new I might add haha. But after all my research, it was the only one that met all my requirements that Walmart compression pieces just couldn't achieve. You can also work out in them to keep everything where it needs to be during shrinking exercises. I'll attach a photo of the one I ended up going with but they do have different styles to suit different needs.

They go up to a XXXL, they fit extremely tight, so I might have to lose a bit of weight before I can even get into it but it closes on the front and the specific one I chose has a three clip system (exactly like a bra) so as you shrink, you can tighten the garment!

I am so pleased with it once I shrink enough that it doesn't fit I plan to buy a second smaller one :)

Ps YAY for butt lifting hahaha

age and how many times you have gained and lost over the years. my advice- get the weight off and THEN worry about, even the ugliest of extra skin looks and feels better than morbid obesity,

LOL.....I doubt that model ever had a weight problem.

Of course she didn't. The garment is marketed both to surgery recoverers (burn victims, plastics surgery and weight loss patients) and also to just people who want lifting and toning products.

The brand is from South America where they worship their asses so of course they are going to choose a model that has an ideal shape their native focus group desires. That doesn't mean the compression garment won't aide in reducing my excess skin.

Compression garments were recommend and this was the only high tension brand that went to the knee and over the shoulder, both important to me as I have worn many uncomfortable control tops in my past and wanted something I wouldn't hate wearing daily. Just because I'll never look like the model doesn't mean the garment doesn't work for lifting toning and slimming.

Plus, why can't we dream of having an ass like that? Isn't that how most of us start looking into wls? Isn't that what helps us through the hard nights? The vision of a happy, healthier, more active self, all with smaller clothing and maybe, just maybe, a nicer ass? Hahahaha! Trust me I don't think many people buying that garment for skin reduction have the delusion that they are going to look like the model.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
