One have it and some do not.

What has happened for you at 100lbs lost? Is the skin in some places livable? Does the skin affect what size clothes you wear?

Maybe your the lucky one without excess skin? Do you think you did something to help this? Lots of lotion? etc...

I wonder about this too... I have my vsg on July 24th, even though I am pretty evenly distributed my stomach is my most concern bc I am not a fan of the huge scar from tummy tuck

The loose skin is just hanging on my pannus & abdomen area. Before surgery my pannus hung, but abdomen was firm. My arms and inner thighs has looseness but not bad. I contribute that to walking. However, my butt is smaller but still have the firm roundness my husband still loves. It's the same, but smaller. My clothes are very, very loose. I held on to some, especially dresses. I have bought more shirts and dresses. I'm not bothering with buying pants until after the pannus removal in October. Pants that I have that are my favorite, I am having altered after surgery. This way I will not have to spend too much money. I think since surgery I have bought maybe 4 pairs of pants.

Thank you for giving me some insight!!! Quick question. What is a pannus? Is this what I refer to as my " Front Butt"?! I tried to google pannus and all that came up some a canine eye problem.

I have front butt, no doubt. I have my entire life. Curious if your insurance covers panlectomy??

What is a pannus? I tried to google this and all it came up with was a canine eye abnormality. Is the pannus what I refer as my "Front Butt"?? Non-funtional of course.

Does your insurance cover panlectomy?

I think this really depends on so many things such as, age, genetics, how much you have to lose, and how fast you lose it etc. I'm not sure how much it will help, but I heard it's good to exfoliate the skin often to help circulation and to use Bio-Oil.

You're welcome. The 'pannus' is your "front butt", hahahahahaha. I'm not sure what the actual medical term is, other than the doctor calling it pannus or apron. And yes, I have Kaiser insurance and there is no out of pocket fees; only my co-pay which is $10 whether I stay over night or as a outpatient. You can google Panniculectomy, which is the removal of the pannus/apron/front butt.

I agree with you!! So many factors that contribute to having or not having extra skin.

Exfoliating and Bio oil makes sense. I had looked into Bio oil. Thanks for the added suggestion of using an exfoliant.

Good to know. I shall call my 'front butt'pannus from now on. :-) How exciting to have your panniculectomy scheduled. How wonderful that insurance covers it.

I may not be that lucky, because said they do not cover excess skin removal. I should reaearch this and see what self pay in my state are.

With most insurance you have to fight with them to covet your panniculectomy. Things like weight maintenance for 12-18 months, documented problems arising from the pannus, skin rash, pain in back from heavy skin pulling down, and overall inability to work out or do normal activity because of it. All the best to you.

Conclusion!!

I know that excess skin involves nature and nurture. Either way my Quest was to understand what external factors others employed.

What it seems people are doing is Bio Oil, exfoliation, St. Ives- Cocoa Butter and of course exercise.

I fear excess skin like nobody's business. I heard that weight training (to tighten the muscles holding the skin), and wearing tightening garments, probably like Spanx and the things that people who have had tummy tucks already wear, to help with elasticity also help. I'll be at the gym a lot once my tummy heals inside, and I'm headed out today to buy some unattractive foundation garments, lol. I have front butt too, and am small around my ribcage. I haven't had kids, so I'm hoping that helps with muscle tone in the abdomen area? Any experience with these?

My hubby lost 75 pounds and has only a little skin hanging. That said he works out and uses weight regularly My neighbor said she was able to stay firm until she stopped exercising. Then the extra skin started coming.

I have lost a total of 126lbs with my sleeve, and excess skin was definately an issue. with dropping the weight in such a quick amount of time (first 90lbs in 7 months) I definately had a large pannus of skin. I had a circular tummy tuck this April, which made a huge difference, but not so much in the size of clothing. They removed 13.8lbs of skin off of me but remember that most of this skin is usually what we are used of hanging over our jeans. With the removal of skin, I went from a size 14 pant to a size 12, however made a HUGE difference in how I was able to wear my clothing. Nothing hangs over anymore :)n
