Food, Energy, And Mental Focus

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 days post op and trying to go back to work. I have tried the past two days to get through a day at work with no success. I start well but my energy just wastes away in a few hours. Also my congnitive ability feels like its at a snails pace. I work in a job where I need to be on my game as much as possible. I feel fine from the surgery and think his has to be from the lack of potien and food in general.

I had creme of chicken Soup today for the first time with success, feel like I can go with more complex foods. Should I try an egg, egg salad, any thing else? I will start shakes tomorrow as well. Has anyone else experienced just feeling dumber / slower? Please tell me this goes away....

I am a month out, and yes it will get easier especially once you start getting your Protein in. Plus are you taking a multi Vitamin? And you could also try B12 shots or pills... GOOD LUCK :)

OMG, I feel the same way. Incredibly tired and just flat out tired. My eyes look all sunken in and I can't stand for too long. I don't have any problems from the surgery itself but my energy has just bottomed out. I even had some emotional separation problems. I will be glad when this passes because it makes me want to question my decision to have the surgery.

I went through almost the exact same thing until about 4-6 weeks post-op. My doc basically said it was due to the low amount of calories we put into our system immediately post-op. He even encouraged me to add a bit of sugar to my diet to help with the energy levels (this contradicted everything that had been told to me previously). Things did get better once I was on solids though it took a couple of weeks to get back to "normal". I still have energy issues though. Not as bad, but it's still there.

B12 makes a huge difference for me in my energy and mental alertness levels. I take 500mcg daily. :)

I had a hard time with that as well. Over time that went away, but it also helped sometimes to drink Powerade zero or propel Water. It seemed to help me a lot in the beginning.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
