!!!!PLEASE HELP!!!! Overfill

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I went today morning for my second fill. I got a first fill of (3cc) month and half ago, and still I could eat all I want (just pain with the first bite)

So I decided to go for the 2nd fill, the doc gave me (1.5cc) which brings the total to (4.5cc) in my band. He did my fill under fluoroscopy and made me drink a full cup of barium. At that time I was feeling good. HOWEVER, an hour later I felt sooooo tight. and I just threw up(white foamy stuff) sorry its gross.

Since this morning, I'm not able even to get a sip of Water down, whenever I try to drink anything (1 or 2 sips), I feel VERY BLOATED and can't take more, 20 mins later I throw up again the white stuff. (it happened 4 times today)

PLUS All day long I feel that I want to burp but nothing happens

My question

I think the white foam I throw up is the barium, which didn't go down, causing anything I drink to hurt me and come up.

So is it better to unfill the band a little? or just wait until this crazy barium go out all together, and then it would feel looser?

I prefer the 2nd option, since I was wide open before this (1.5cc) but I'm afraid to get seriously dehydrated

Thanks a lot and sorry for the gross symptoms

It sounds like you may be too tight. Call your doctor and see what he tells you. I had my first fill on Monday and my doctor would only give me .5 cc, I feel no restriction.

I've seen a lot of posts with similar stories. "I could drink just fine in the Dr's office but on the way home the band got so tight I couldn't swallow my own spit."

Logic tells me that it could be swelling. You won't become dehydrated ovenight. See how it is in the morning and if it's not better get yourself in for a slight unfill. Sometimes just .5cc is enough to make a huge difference but still keep the right amount of necessary restriction.

Since you have been having problems with this most of the day, I wouldn't try to drink anymore for the rest of the night. There's no sense in trying to push the issue and make yourself sick.

Good luck, Magic. Let us know how you're doing.

I wouldn't wait that long, I'd call the doc and let him know. Let it be his decision if he filled the band too much. How big is your band and how much does it hold? Mine will only hole 4cc of Fluid.< /p>

I had my band too tight once but didn't realize what it was - my gall bladder was going bad at the same time. Went to doc and he took out 5cc - it helped. Did your doctor advise you to have only liquids the first two days after a band adjustment?? If you wait to drink anything and have some Water later in the day it is easier. Going for adjustment #4!

Yikes, Magic, that sounds rough! It might indeed be swelling but it's not good that you can't get even a little Fluid down.

Try warm liquids this evening. If you're still this way in the morning call your doctor! Good luck and let us know how you're doing.

In the meantime, you need to be hydrated. One trick that may help the foam may be warm Water with lemon. Go slow, however, if you can't get that down, you seriously need to call your doctor. Some docs will even meet you at their office to take some out. It's not good to be unable to even sip slowly. I'm sorry.. been there, done that..but this too shall pass.

guys I LOVE YOU ALL

You gave me support when I most needed it, you are my second family, I want to hug each one of you for the support and the kind/wise words you have wrote to me.

About my fill, I couldn't take the pain anymore, I wasn't even able to lay down for some sleep, so I went to doc's office (sleepless) first thing in the morning , and he took (1cc) out, he admitted that (1.5cc) is too much for a fill. so now I have (3.5cc) in the band, and a I feel MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better. He told me from now on each fill I get should not exceed (0.5cc)

Thanks god I can breath again. hugs to you all, and you guys are the best:hug:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
