The Horrible Feeling That You Are Done

Recommended Posts

We all have been there. You hit a stall and it lasts so long that you start to believe that your weight loss is done. I know all about stalls...I know everyone gets them, but regardless I still get those little demons creeping up in my mind saying...you arent going to lose anymore weight, you are a failure. This last stall was a duzzy. I had been the same weight plus or minus 2 pounds for almost 3 months. I started to believe that I had let myself down, and started feeling depressed, thinking what was the point? I started eating crap that I knew was bad for me believing that why should I even try to eat right if it isnt going to work anyways. Well just when I was about to give up completely my scale did something amazing.... I lost 5 pounds in a week! Thinking it was just a fluke I got back on the scale the next day and wouldnt you guess it...no I wouldnt have, but I lost another pound! Then a few days later I rechecked to see if I gained any back...and bamb! I lost another two pounds! I lost 8 pounds in a matter of 9 days :) I just wanted to give a little inspiration to those of you that are in one of those dreaded stalls....just keep positive...keep working that sleeve, and your body will do the rest! keep smiling! :D

Now, try feeling this way just a few weeks post-op. :)

^ In my 9th week sleeved, and 6th week stalled.

It's the logical brain vs. emotional brain. Logical brain knows it cannot go on like this forever, but emotional brain is frantically trying to figure out what blame to assign where. Sounds like your logical brain got the affirmation it needed!

Thanks. I needed this. I have been stuck for 3 weeks gaining and losing the same 2 pounds. See my post on the Post-op board if interested.

Stalls can happen even on the pre-op shake plan. I gained 3 pounds this week on my pre-op shake diet. I drink 3 Protein shakes New directions plus my decaff tea and maybe one popsicle. I am drinking about 70 ounces of a Water a day. I exercise 2 hours on the gazelle and I walk 1 to 1-1/2 miles a day, plus every other day I have lifted weights.

I started out 237 - gained 3 pounds in one day to 240 - hit 231 now i'm up to 233, yesterday I was 234!!!! I see people that lost 15-20 pounds on 2 week shakes. I You would think I would have lost more or even not gain, but it happens.

Here's the stats for the last 10 days calories carbs fat Protein sodium potassium

Totals 624 34 19 79 1,984 2,170

At nearly 23mths out and the same weight for over 6mths, I really am getting that dreaded feeling of being 'done' and with 14-28lbs left to goal, I don't like it at all... I would LOVE to see my scale move instead of bounce around.

I am really pleased that you broke through you stall because you are right, they get you down big time... I am desperately fighting not to go to that place at the moment, so your words are encouraging!

Thanks for posting =]

I am not stuck on a stall but stuck in a rut! 2 yrs out and cannot get myself back to basics. I did low carb all last month. 2 up 2 down! So then I fell off the carb wagon big time! I tell myself every day I won't do it and the. I do. I have regained about 13 lbs and don't want to do that!! Got to do better. Help!

I hear that a slight regain is normal. however you dont want to have that turn into your worst nightmare! have you ever tried replacing a meal with a shake? or even 2? then just eat what you want for the other meals? I have also heard alot of good things about the 5 day pouch test...where it helps get some shrinkage back....mabye that would help. hope all the best for you! good luck!! :)

Okay, I dropped a pound to my lowest weight ever of 179. I will wait until I lose 2 more pounds before I declare any stall broken.

My plan is to exercise every day (not just kill myself on weekends), cut out all the sugar (I have been eating a couple coffee caramels a day) and keep the carbs under 30 grams a day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
