How Can You Tell When Youre Full?

Recommended Posts

I'm a week out from surgery and on full liquids. I'm not really having any trouble with liquids... What feeling would I have when I'm full? My stomach area doesn't feel bloated and I don't feel "full" in the ways I would before surgery. Any description of what I should be feeling for so I don't over drink?

Feeling full is a strange feeling at the bottom of your throat. When you eat give yourself time between bites because if you pass the full mark and over eat, it sucks:-)

Got it... So some pain in my lower belly at this point is probably just still surgery soreness, not being full? I feel nothing near the bottom of my throat.

It's kinda weird- i could not tell when I was full either, then I realized that whenever I got full, I would get this strange pressure....behind my EYES. Very weird, I know, but it is still consistent. If I get too too full I get the eye pressure AND an instant headache. Other than that, I just get an "uncomfortable" feeling in my stomach region. I know....not very helpful, but we all have different and strange reactions to this surgery.

Of course in the full liquid phase, you're not going to get a lot of full feelings. That will come with blended foods more.

I think everyone's full is different. I actually feel full and it makes the food undesirable. Same as before surgery. I also will hiccup. Some people get pressure feelings or burp or even cough.

As has already been mentioned here, the full feeling is different for everyone. For me, it is burbing and pressure coming from my stomach. At the same time, something just tells me in my head, I am full. Last night, I was really enjoying the really small swedish meatballs I was eating. I ate two and a half of them and as I was eating the last bite, I was getting the symptoms above but ignored them so I took one bite to many. One of the other sleevers I follow calls it her OBTM (one bite too many) look. I know exactly what she means. I didn't get sick, but I was pretty uncomfortable for a few minutes. I never got full on liquids and my NUT said to drink as much as you can. You cannot drink too much - especially Water. I know that the Protein Drinks were thicker, and while I didn't get full exactly, it did take me longer to drink those. Once I started on purees, I started getting the full feelings. Now on soft foods, I totally understand the full feelings.

I can feel it n my throat. Hard to explain. I also begin to hiccup n burp. You'll start to know once u move on to eating more substantial foods.

I am also on full liquids and when I get "full" I just dont feel like having anymore. So far I have only felt that way with the Protein shakes. Today I am going to try some Jello and see how that goes. I also never feel hungry.....at least so far, so I have to make sure that I get some nutrition in even though I am not interested in food right now. You will get there, soon you will know when y ou have had enough and its time to stop. Be patient.

Thank you everyone for sharing your individual signs and symptoms that indicate fullness. It is one of the things I have been thinking about as my surgery date gets closer.

At one month out, I get this sudden fullness feeling followed by a cramping sensation if I do the one bite too many. This is one of the things that makes u learn to eat slowly so that u give your stomach time to tell u it is full.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
