Lose A Pound Only To Gain A Pound. Frustrated

Recommended Posts

Okay guys the 27th will be 1month post-op for me. I lost 16lbs pre-op and 21lbs post-op. I know those are some great numbers, but for the past week and a half I've been losing a pound only to regain it.. What gives!? I don't understand this. I walk maybe 3 miles a week and have stayed with in my meal plan.

I've recently started adding luncheon meats to my diet and I'm wondering could the sodium be causing this teeter totter effect??? Yes, I've heard of stalls, but this early out?

Guy's I need help, suggestions, clues.. anything PLEASE.

Best advice to you...

STOP WATCHING THE scale

...It is not your friend. Keep doing what you are doing and allow your body to adjust to the transformation. Get frustrated doesn't speed up the process, remaining positive and adoring every small aspect of change is. Trust me. Rome want built in the day a d even the workers who built it took days off. LoL

Nikki I'm 3 weeks out and at a stall myself. I just began soft foods so I'm assuming the body is getting used to the changes. I agree with Jimmy, step away from the scale!!! I gained a pound BUT I also had some Cheetos! attaching my 3 weeks post op video ~ best wishes to you!

Jimmy I'm trying not too, but I can feel it in my body...the weight difference that is.... I know it may sound crazy, but I can honestly feel when I've gained or lost that pound.. so therefore I hop on the scale to check...

In my mind.. I always say to myself If I had been weight/scale conscious in the beginning I never would have gotten up to 300+ lbs.. I don't want to fail my sleeve and myself, ya know? So I check.

But you're right.. I have to step away from the scale and keep doing what I'm doing and maybe let go of the luncheon meat.. I think the sodium may be causing me to hold Water.. but it's approved on my food list... ((((sighs)))) what to do, what to do??

I know what everyone is saying is true. I just want to see the numbers drop. I am going to try to get this Water weight off. My feet looked a little puffy today so I know I am retaining fluids.

Vsg, I hope your right. Maybe my expectations are too high, but I feel as though the weight should be coming off consistently this early in the game. This is really messing up my mood lol I was prepared for a lot of things involving this surgery but losing only to gain was not one of them. I need to put my game face back on and take a deep breath... Woooo sahhhhhh

Grateful, how in the world are we supposed to get this Water weight off? I've heard that water pills are a NO NO... what's your plan of action? I need to follow suit!

Nikki unless you have CHF or Renal problems Water, water and more water to flush your system. Sounds weird but water will flush the fluids out. Make sure you are getting at least the minimum you doctor told you to.

I'm three weeks out and my NUT told me not to be surprised if I hit a stall about this time. Therefore, I'm not getting on the scale until next Friday. Do a search on this forum for Three Week Stall and you'll see other posts about this. They can last a week or two apparently.

This was my dinner tonight. I am a HUGE carb junkie, I can't have rice, can't have bread, can't have my fried chicken and now possibly no lunch meat? ??? I had to have the lettuce for crunch, it went down without any issues. I'm trying so hard, but I may have to let the lunch meat go too. :(

There are delicious reduced sodium cold cuts & cheeses out there. I buy Boar's Head. I haven't had a problem with any of them. I have stalled too but it is completely normal AND everyone's body is different. If you drink plenty of Water the sodium in the small amount of cold cuts you eat will not be a big deal, unless that's all you eat all day long. I have it several times a week with veggies. DD

Okay, guys.. I think the problem was the sodium. I cut back an awful lot of luncheon meats and canned items and the results were fantastic! I went from 308.8 on Friday to 304.6 on today.

Even though I drink a lot of Water it still wasn't enough to flush it out so I'll be staying clear of the processed foods as much as possible... Yippy Kai yay, baby!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
