I love doing things like that. When I want something sweet they are quick and easy to make and not that bad really without the crust. If you like Peanut Butter and/or chocolate try this one...
Cool whip lite/fat free whatever it is
    Cream cheese fat free
Natural peanut butter or I guess you could use the PB2 stuff if you want.
    Chocolate Protein powder.
Make sure the cool whip is thawed. Nuke the cream cheese just long enough to soften up and be blended with mixer. Mix those two first. Mix in the pb then the Protein Powder. You can add as much of the PB or choco powder as to taste but you may have to add a touch of milk if you're adding a lot of the protein. You can just chill it in the fridge for a while or freeze it in the freezer and it makes a great ice cream or custard type thing.
I don't do a whole lot of sweets and when I do eat them I much rather prefer to have something "good homemade" as opposed to store bought junk. I wouldn't give you a dollar for a truck load of Little Debbie stuff. Therefore I experiment with a few basic things that I usually keep on hand at home and try to make them as nutritious as I can. Lots of other variables you can use. If you like orange try this one.
    Cool whip
    Cream cheese.
    Can of mandarin oranges
    vanilla protein powder.
Mix the cool whip and cream cheese well first of course. Add in your oranges and mix again then add the vanilla protein powder. If you don't drain the oranges first you probably won't have to add any extra liquid at all for the protein powder. You can vary this as well with other fruits and even add sugar free pudding mix or Jello mix to accomodate what fruit flavors you like. Enjoy.

Well after sweating it out for a few weeks with no loss at all I seemed to have gone from 203 last week to 196 this morning. Not sure what happened unless I am retaining fluids bad. It is hot and humid down here and I have always retained in the summer, my feet have been killing me for weeks now, seems they feel the fluid overload the worse even if they don't look that bad.
Anyway I am FINALLY in the hundreds now. 55 down and hopefully 71 to go to 125 and even if I don't get that far I will settle for the 130's to 140's. Woot!!!!

DebraLea got a reaction from erp in Insurance Covers Bypass Or Band, How To Get Sleeve?
My new insurance was the same way. My surgeon had to write them a letter explaining why the sleeve was needed and it worked. First time they always deny it and tell you bypass or band. Its a game and you have to play it to get what you want. Don't give up. Play the stupid game.
I have worked in healthcare for over 25 years and have seen the changes to patient oriented services to the demi gods deciding who gets whats and it sucks.
Heres something most don't know, the people making those decisions aren't even qualified to make them. They are just people off the streets hired into the positions, no medical knowledge or experience whatsoever. Damned scary.
Insist on the sleeve I did and I would not have had the surgery if I couldn't have gotten it.

Well fortunately I no longer get that time of the month. One good thing about being "older"
It's just so frustrating for me. Most of the people who knew about the surgery gave me a hard time about it and now I get to hear "Well how much have you lost this week?, with a anarky attitude all the time. Of course another girl at work who had the surgery is moving right along down the scale and they are all cooing over her so I guess I'm not measuring up to her but she had a plication AND a band done at the same time.
Should I adjust some part of the diet? I know to little of carbs can stall you and I am keeping them way low.
Can the heat be playing a part?
I do take a diuertic everyday so I wouldn't think it would be water weight and if it is there is something else going on.
It sucks to work in health care and not having anyone to discuss this with. The surgeons office can't answer me and I don't see my primary til September again and he just jokes around and wants to discuss work (he has patients where I work).
I do have a "friend" who has a masters in nutrition but we aren't close by any means and its a male so I'm not sure I would be comfortable talking to him.
I need this to work I need to get off the meds I am on. Insulin made me gain 70 pounds so it is imparative for me to get off it ASAP, plus I want to be healthy.

DebraLea, it generally goes away within 6 months of surgery. Your smaller stomach makes less acid to break down food. Your stomach produces this mucous like substance to help digest food and move it through your intestines. It can be annoying and make you sick to your stomach to the point you don't want to eat. Warm fluids such as herbal tea or warm lemon Water help to break down this mucous and decrease frothing. If your symptoms persist, let your doctor know. Hope that helps and good luck!

The is a new shake out there call EAS Carb control. 4 are $4.78 at the local Walmart and they are awesome. Two chocolate flavors, strawberry and vanilla. 17 gr protein, no surgar, 2.5 net carbs, a ton of vitamins and minerals. They are made by Abbott nutrition who is a leading provider in the health care industry. My friend who is a nutritionist/dietitian agrred they are the best of all the premade shakes out there now. Atkins is good, lots of flavors, but not so much protein, has a bit of sugar and cost more. Good luck

    Hi Lady & Welcome!
I didn't tell anyone in my family but my husband! He was and continues to be a supportive light in my life. I didn't tell my mom or dad or any family member until I was approved for surgery. some family...I waited until after.. None of my family knew I was pre-diabetic, hypertensive, and have high cholesterol. I am 38 years old and I am considerd morbidly obese...sounds so grotesque when you see it on paper...or electronically in this case! So when I finally told them that I was approved to have the surgery I got an ok from my brother.. Silence from my dad..then an ok.. And a ok from my mom with and are you sure??? This was the very reason I didn't tell anyone! I think that sometimes family fear the unknown which is why I asked my hubby to come to every appt. with me to become educated with me on the process and he did which is why I think he is supportive. Perhaps your family has this same fear..are there required seminars you can attend? Ask your mom to come to a support group and let her see the people who have succeeded. In fact, if she refuses, challenge her to come and face that fear. Let her hear those who had complications but overcame them and have gone on to succeed. Tell your mom to ask questions.. Those people are the ones who can educated her. Bring her to the seminar when you first started...let her look around the room and show her you aren't alone. Let her hear the doctors, the dietitians, the nurses and what they have to say about the process..because they are the "medical experts". Let her hear from people who have already walked the path because they are the "ultimate expert". I feel you are saddened because they aren't supportive. I would then ask them to come and see...and remind the gently that comments can be hurtful if one is commenting without being educated on the process first. And in the end..if they still are unsupportive...you will always have us here. U are one of us now! You are part of a special sorority/ fraternity of men and women who are so full of life that all we want is for our bodies to feel and be better so we can embrace that life we have been given! Good luck on your journey! I look forward to reading about your many success stories to come!!!

Lady, I think you'll find people out there with all different reactions. I got your not fat enough, really you could do it on your own just cut back, exercise more blah blah blah! I had the surgery on may 1st, I am down 38 pounds. I feel so much better. It is not the easy way out. Was it easy when you were being picked on in school because you were fat. Was it easy when you couldn't find anything to wear because you gained weight. Was it easy when you were embarrassed to go to a buffet? Was it easy when you went out with a group of friends and didn't eat because you were too embarrassed to? Because you were dieting again! It is not easy and never has been! Go for it, take care of you nobody else will. They will come around when they see how much happier you'll be. And just let them know that your gonna do it wether they like it or not!, that's what I did. And people are now telling me how good I look and they are so glad it's working for me!,, good luck and keep us posted! Lori
