Anyone Regret Being Sleeved?

Recommended Posts

I was a diabetic when I had surgery and I was told to have 50carbs by using 1/2 strength apple juice and Water. Everything else I use is sugar free. My dr. gave me previcid for stomach acid and I had to use gasx tabs with each meal and bedtime for gas for a while it helps keep the gurgling stomach down to a roar. Also to use lactaid milk or soy when I went to full liq.most people cant't tolerate dairy after surgery. My only regret is I did not have surgery when I was younger!

I think many people regret it early out - it is certainly a shock to the system.

Enjoy the loose stools while you have them - before you know it you will be constipated instead! Seriously though, think of it this way - liquid in, liquid out. You won't have solid stools till you are on solid foods.

I had a rough start with a leak and 3 months with a feeding tube but today I don't regret it. I am thrilled to be 100 lbs lighter, just a few more pounds to goal! Hang in there!

I get diarrhea if I have too many sugar-free products and bloaty and gassy. That's why I wish everything was made with Truvia instead of the stuff they are made out of. Keep your chin up and I'm so sorry you are struggling right now.

Sorry, thought u said orange juice. Still, I was told all Juices are a no go for two weeks because of the high level of sugar.

Sorry, thought u said orange juice. Still, I was told all Juices are a no go for two weeks because of the high level of sugar.

And I'm nearly 6 months out and STILL on "no liquids with calories...including Soup and fruit and Tomato juice" am down @ 75#.

I hate the dietary restrictions and the fact that no one from the surgeon's office is explaining how one changes from following this draconian diet after one can no longer be fat/sugar and carb "free"

Ech.

Not a single regret 3 1/2 months and 62 pounds down. I did all my freaking out BEFORE surgery. It's been smooth sailing from there. Thank you Jesus!!

I don't know if that is how I would describe it but yes I question my decision. When you begin to feel better, I am sure that you will have a different outlook on the whole thing. This is the time I want you at your strongest. Self motivation and positive thinking. Think to your self that you can do this because this decision was something not made in haste. This too shall pass. When down, you can only look up. Believe me, I take this advice as well and some days I try not too. I will be joining with you for both of us to get stronger.

No regrets at all. It's hard for the 1st weeks to re-adjust but after that all good.

I have got my life back thanks to the VSG.

I didn't say orange juice. I am on unsweetended apple juice. Even the sugar free juice, and chicken broth give me diarrhea. Th eonly thing that doesn't send me ot the bathroom is chamomille tea

Unsweetened apple juice should be OK eventually. I rememebr drinking a little quite early on. That and very thin chicken and vegetable stock. Hope it settles down soon.

I am 2.5 months out and have not had any regrets. Of course I was blessed not to have any pain and only threw up once. It was my fault though because i tried eating red meat and took one bite to many. I didn't listen when my body tried telling me it is enough. About not being able to enjoy food, i am taking it as a way to change my tastebuds and enjoy the small bites I am allowed to eat. No more junk food, learning to eat better quality food and enjoy each bite. It is a mental game because some times I want a mc donalds cheeseburger. Just have to remind myself that it is all bad and there are better choices. It is not easy and there are challenges but no regrets.

I am nearly 9 months out, and like others have said, the only thing I regret is the fact that I can't enjoy food like I did before. I can eat so little that when I find something I really like, I can only eat a little of it. It gets really frustrating.

But in the long run, this was the best decision I've ever made. I feel better than I ever had before. I've had plateaus that get frustrating, and I catch myself cheating the sleeve by eating multiple times a day, but otherwise I wouldn't change a thing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
