Still In The Hospital Is This Nightmare Ever Going To End?

I had my surgery on May3. Had a hital hernia repaired, lapband removed, and my sleeve done. Surgery went well. Went in for my swallow test all was good a little bit swollen but no leaks.

Unable to hold down fluids they ended up keeping me an extra day in the hospital. I came home still not able to hold dow much fluid no matter how little I sipped how long I left in between times I always managed to throw up. I went back to the doctor on Monday and he sent me for IV fluids, well no luck with that either. I had to go back to the doctor on Wednesday and he put me in the hopital and hooked me back up to IV fluids. Two days ago they put in a picc line and are feeding me through this picc line. Tomorrow they will be going down my throat with a camera to see if they can see any thing else wrong.

I am getting so depressed. They did bring me some oatmeal this morning for breakfast ohhhhh yummy. gonna pray it goes down and stays down.

Please keep me in your prayers that i will be out of here soon. : )

I am sorry you are both having problems, and Jimmy is right. The power of the brain and positive energy can be miraculous. I hope you are both healing and back to great health very soon.

I too was sleeved on 3-may-12. The first week I felt great and I thought this couldn't be easier. Then 10 days post things starting going down hill. I was readmitted to the hospital on 16-may with severe dehydration and constipation. They put me on IV fluids and had me drink magneseum citrate to get my bowels moving. I was discharged on 18-may. That night I was discharged was tough. Things have been getting a little better day by day. I am still trying to figure out what I can eat/drink without causing my stomach and lower back to start having pains.

I don't know if it is the whey Protein or the Vitamins, but something doesn't agree with me after I take it. Trial and error will hopefully tell.

I never thought it would be so difficult to drink enough fluids.

I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow.

When did most of you start feeling normal again?

It very well could be the whey protein. I can't do pure whey isolate. I bought an powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury sample pack and got it in the mail the other day. Tried one of the shakes and I only got a little in before I gave up and dumped it out. Try some other, soy or something, mix with Water or juice, not milk and see what happens. Couldn't hurt to try it. I read somewhere that new sleeves can have issues with milk products for awhile.

I'm not sleeved yet by the way.

Feel better!!!

Mary and Jimmy,

I'm praying for both of you. Keep us posted and let us know when you're home!

My prayers and blessings are with you. Just as someone said the power of positive thinking is a booger! It requires you though and your belief in what will be. Take control and will yourself to health. Good Luck!
