Always Hungry and PBing

Recommended Posts

I have been banded almost two years and have lost most of my excess weight. I have had major trouble for most of my banded life. I have PBed almost every day and most day several times. I almost always feel hungry. As soon as I PB I want to eat again. I don't think I'm to tight. I have not lost any weight for 8 months. I just find myself eating and PBing way to much. Before surgery I always had trouble keeping food down. If I bent over after eating food would just come back up. It does not make me feel sick or gag. It just comes up. My worse habit that I know make it worse is I still drink with my meals. I just can't seem to enjoy eating without a class of tea. Real food almost alway comes up. Nuts, popcorn and Snacks almost always stay down. I think I'm just crazy. I am glad I had the surgery and pray I never lose the band. I just don't think I'm the normal banster.

Hi Dow,

I dont mean to be offensive, but if you are really worried about your band health, then I would stop PBing so frequently. THat is a sure way to slippage and esophagus problems. IT sounds like you are too tight if you are not able to keep solid Protein down. Grazing foods like popcorn and such go down for pretty much everyone. YOu are probably not gaining cause you are barfing up so much and at the same time you are still getting enough of the junk food down to keep you at the weight you are at.

I hope you at least take Vitamins. Have you ever considered getting a slight unfill and giving the ole throat and band a chance to rest??? I personally would be so unhappy if I could not eat my protein and keep it down. I like eggs, meat, poultry etc..and steak. I love steak but I wouldnt want to regurgitate it.... LOL

Go to your Dr. soon. It's sounds like you are to tight. This is the way I was bringing up and pbming all the time. I finally went to the easier to eat foods and gained weight. I was, thinking I was a failure.so I didn't go to the Drs. Finally my thoat was so sore and my stomach was uncomfortable, after over 8 months I called the Dr. Had an appointment and he unfilled me. found out because I was so tight I had developed GERD. not pleasant, was causing problems for my stomach and the band was so tight, and my throat was getting very sore from vomiting. You will never lose weight like this because you are not eating the proer foods and are eating the high and easy food . Talk to your Dr. and also a nutrition. This has helped me a good deal. Don't cause yourself more problems by not going to the Dr. We got the band to lose weight not to suffer and cause more problems. My band has been unfilled for several months so my stomach and thoat could heal and I no longer have gerd because I was unfilled.Good luck in what you do

I think you need a follow up visit with your doctor and nutrutionist. If you are pb'ing that often, it could be that you are too tight and therefore eating the wrong kinds of foods. Sounds like you have developed some bad habits that they may help identify. Basically, you need a tune-up!

Good luck and stay in touch with us.l

Yes I'd go back and see your doc too.

If you only need to maintain now and not lose, then you could probably be a bit looser without the risk of gaining much.

You're in it for the long haul now and you cant spend the next 30 or 40 years eating only snack foods.

Not that this is you. This was my experience. I have had my band over 4 years.

There are times when I have done the same thing-endless PBing and overeating. This was emotional/stress eating. I had to slow down, really think, and find other ways to destress. My experience in therapy helped a lot. I was eating too much and thought I needed to in order to feel secure. I had to start actually waiting for hunger again.

I am back losing again and totally listening to my band.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
