Any foods you can never eat again???

Recommended Posts

pizza (the topping) doesn't sit well with me anymore - tried it once and that was enough for me. I haven't had soda since I started my pre-op liquid. My last one was 8pm on June 20th to be exact. I LOVED Caffiene Free Diet Coke, but since carbonatoin is a no-no, I'm not even going to try it. I'm afraid I'll go back to drinking just that instead of Water. I had a hard time with pea pods, although I love them...I also had heartburn from my friend's meatball/italian sausage spaghetti sauce yesterday. Otherwise, everything is fine. I'm afraid to try popcorn as I've never pb'd and don't want to!

...I can't think of any food I WANT to eat that I can't have at least a LITTLE taste of....

and LITTLE tastes are a GOOD thing....yes???

My tastes have changed considerably in ways I would not have predicted....and I'm happy that bread no longer rules my life!!!

I can have a bit now & then....even a sandwich...1/2 size please...and toasted is preferred...

I can eat any pizza topping I ever liked preOp....I just don't care for the smell of it now....and no way am I interested in the crust....no matter HOW thin....

I thought I had over ate these past 3 days.....fired FitDay up and found less than 1800 one day, under 1700 the next, and under 1600 today....still barely would have made a 'dinner out' preBand....all three days together!!!!

I do the same thing Jack, I always feel like Ive done horribly on calories. And then thank goodness for fitday, it always reminds me I really do have a working band lol.

Seem like chicken is out for me. I havent given up on it but tuna, lean hamburger meat , pork chops , any Beans and eggs are fine but one bite a chicken gives me that heartburn feeling. I am going to try later but right now I dont have the stomach (lol) to even try it again. Baked chicken with lots of cajun seasoning was my favorite pre banding.

Ok you guys,

What is fitday? A web-site, a book, club or what?

Thanks for the info on what a PB is now I'm not scared of that one...LOL

I eat too much now since I'm pre-band, and burp all the time. Dear Dr. says I have GERD... whatever that is? I think antacid or pepsid does the trick most of the time.

My husband and I had lapband done on Aug 10th. We had sushi w/seaweed a couple of weeks ago with no problem. We do cut it in half and eat it very very slowly. My doctor said we could have whatver we wanted in moderation and whatever we could handle. The key is eat small bits and slowly.

No more white bread or flour tortillas for me...Everytime that I have gotten sick it has involved one or the other...I sometimes can handle pizza with the very thin crust, but it depends on the day...I have found carb smart wheat bread and if I chew it really really slow I can maybe have half a sandwich...Something about the wheat doesnt make it glob together and stick when you chew it (for the most part)...I cant really remember anything else that I might have had a problem with...Oh yeah, there was the pork chop incident too, I think it was just a little dry and didnt go down too well either!

chicken seems to be out for me as well. :cry Two PB's in one week, several days apart, on chicken prepared two different ways with lots of sauce, etc. to lube it with. I really like chicken, but my band doesn't.

I forgot, I will never have MILK or carbination again. My Dr says drinking milk is off limits and the carbination streches the pouch. For me it sucks cause I did love my Coors light :)

I am not a doctor, but, frankly, I am very concerned that your doctor told you milk is off limits. That goes against EVERYTHING I have read and been told by my surgeon. Milk is vital to my day (for shakes and just for drinking a glass when my Protein has been low that particular day). I would seriously consider getting a second opinion about that, unless the problem is that you are lactose intolerant, in which case you should be able to drink soy milk, which also is a good source of Protein in a hurry.

Shellybeans, I notice that your banding date is coming up really soon. I wish you well! It was the best decision of my life, thus far. Remember: Milk is your friend:)

...but are there any foods you know you can never eat again? I've heard things like asparagus, seaweed etc... are very had to pass through the band.

Who knows? Who cares? Why focus on what I can't eat or what doesn't since being banded? I never thought about it like foods I gave up or what I can't eat. For the first time in my life, I'm not focused on foods or dieting - I'm focusing on improving. Maybe there are things I can't eat (seaweed? Does that come up much? I mean, I can still I eat sushi and that's fine with me) - but I never dwell on them at all. I care about being a better me! :)

The only things I cared about giving up was the "Plus Size" clothing departments and stores like Avenue or Lane Bryant.:heh:

Being healthier, looking great and better shopping (as in, shopping in regular stores, fashionable stores and hip departments) is ten times more important to me than anything on a plate now.:hungry:

I never focused on what I can't eat - I'm focused on what I've gained.

As always, good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
