Hi All,

I've been lurking around the forums for about one month. I just thought about all of the things I have purchased over the past couple months. I am scheduled for June 15th with Dr. Elariny in Fairfax Hospital. I thought it would be fun to share some of the things you have purchased to prepare for surgery. I know my taste will change after surgery but I can't help myself plus I will not have a lot of support from family as they are pretty far away so decided its good to have some choices. I know there is already a thread on what you should purchase. But please feel to share what you purchased. This is what I have so far. I am trying to stop and I will unless you have something really good that I have to buy. lol.

The liquid diet is going to use a lot more Liquid Protein than you think it will. I would find a diversity of things you like for planning out the pre diet and enough to have for at least a few days after. Also, I was allowed sugar free vit c drops in the hospital when my mouth was very dry. I stocked up in advance too. I liked the Protein Shakes the same, but I couldn't take the cream Soups after and was suddenly REALLY picky about my Water. I could taste everything in it and it wasn't always yummy.

I'm still super picky about my Water. I'd add some Mio drops to the list. Be careful to avoid the Mio "energy" drops as they have caffeine, but the Orange Tangerine and strawberry Watermelon are awesome. I like them because you can add as little or as much as you like to your Water and adjust the flavor to your changing taste buds.

Be careful on Protein shots as well. Many of them contain collagen Protein, which does our bodies no good. The protein in them is not readily absorbable, so you're creating protein rich pee without getting any benefits from it.

I'd add some low sodium chicken/beef broth to your list. Swanson makes some that comes in a box so you can pour a few ounces at a time into a cup, heat and drink. The box stays in the fridge and keeps the broth from absorbing odors from other things in there.

Good luck!! :)

@cookies I like your list. I am going to get broth, Premier Protein, crystal light, and Gatorade. I didn't know they had sugar free. I wonder if I could add unflavored Protein to the Gatorade.

Thanks Vitamin C drops are added to my list. I haven't bought anything for my preop diet yet. I only have one week liquid so maybe I will stock up on Premier Protein for the liquid diet.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
