Unfortunately no. Not that I've ever heard of, anyway. But GMTA!

The issue with getting an entire day's worth of Protein in one drink (unless you prefer for that one drink to last you all day) is portioning. Or rather, metabolism. :)

Extremely fit bodies can only metabolize about 30gm of Protein at a time. That's why we need to space our protein out. If you're ingesting all of your protein in one go, so to speak, the excess is just that - excess, and will be stored as excess (which is exactly what we're trying to avoid).

I just noticed you were sleeved at the same clinic I was (KC Bariatric - yay), but by different surgeons. Maybe Dr. Kowalski uses different guidelines. I've been a patient there since 2006 when I had my first WLS, but have never met him nor talked with him so I have no idea if he uses the same booklet; but all your protein at once really isn't the most healthy way to get it all in.

The "dream come true" isn't really just a way to get all your protein in, it's a way to get it all in, in - say - a single mouthful. :)

Someone needs to invent a high quality hydrosalate or whey isolate protein pill!

That was a quote from a post I made to someone else last (also from MO) last week, so it was to them, actually. I didn't even know you were another KC area person until I was trying to figure out what you were referring to. :)

I say this at least once a day!! We can put a man on the moon but we can't invent a Protein pill?!?! These Protein Shakes are SO yucky.

They make Protein shots, you can buy them at walmart.... they're usually between 25-30g Protein (2-3x more than a protein shake) in 2-3oz of liquid (protein shakes are usually 8-12oz)

they're more like a thicker red bull, as opposed to the Protein Shakes that try and taste like some kind of mutant milk.. bleh... and 2-3oz is enough to just gulp it and be done.

these are the ones I get, and they're not bad:

I wondered that too until I started thinking...... we need 60-70 grams or whatever of Protein a day. How do we put these into a pill? Let's say we just had these broken down into 10 pills a day for math's sake. That would be a 6 gram pill and one that I'm guessing none of us would be able to swallow (probably close to the size of a ping pong ball). I'm guessing the average pill is..... say...... 500 mgs, which I think is half of a gram. But perhaps we could all swallow something as big as a 1 gram pill/capsule, etc, which may be pushing it to swallow something that big. But let's assume we can do that and get 30 grams of our daily protein from the food/meat that we eat. That would still leave us with 30 one gram pills to take daily, which is more than most of us would want to take and may even be worse than trying to tolerate the Protein Shakes. I think the sheer volume of protein needed makes it prohibitive for us to take it in pill form. I went over this a lot in my head, and probably way too much, but I was getting tired of the shakes and was getting desperate as well. But now, I'm able to consume and hold more food, so I'm pretty close to getting all the protein I need from food, except for the days I lift weights, then I have a shake after working out. Maybe one day they will mainline it and we can carry around an I.V. bag with us..... anything to avoid those shakes! :P

Anakin Jay,

The shots are what I use. I am on my way to my dr right now but when I get home I will post the name of them. I get them at Walmart and the ones that I get have 42g in each. My nut said not to consume over 30g at once so I just drink half in the morning, other half midday and a half of another before bed and I get all of my Protein in:).

There is, but there isn't a lot of Protein per capsule. Spirulina has the highest protein of anything! I bought some of the capsules.

They figured out how to take the seed out of watermelons - They sure as heck should try to develop something for us! If I had the smarts and $$ to do so I'd get right on that! lol

Protein pills do exist. However, as someone pointed out, they contain very little Protein so you'd end up having to take a butt load of pills. If you are having trouble finding something you like, try Premier Protein shakes. They are ready to drink and you can buy chocolate and vanilla at Sam's or costco. strawberry, as well as the other two favors, can be bought on line. I am an extremely picky eater/drinker and cannot stand any artificial sweetener. But these things are great! Well, at least the chocolate one is. I haven't tried the other two favors yet.

Good luck to you!

I am totally with everyone on Protein pills. Surely SOMEONE out there is working on it! I would love to take pills throughout the day instead of having to choke down a slimy shake. Ick!

I was also excited about the possibility of Protein Shots (a Protein you can drink in one gulp) instead of shakes, but when I researched them I discovered they are not a good source of protein. They are collagen-based (very poor protein source) and don't have the amino acids you need to absorb the protein anyway.

I found this review on Amazon was a wealth of information. It was posted by a lady who had the sleeve and works at a hospital. She consulted with 4 nutritionists and 2 doctors about the shots and posted what she was told. Good info! http://www.amazon.com/review/R23SQAJ6VSKI8H/ref=cm_cr_dp_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0030DM28C&nodeID=3760901&store=hpc#wasThisHelpful

So I guess a solution is still waiting to be found! I honestly wouldn't even mind getting a real shot (with a needle) every day if it meant I could forgo all the Protein Shakes.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
