Flew today- first time post-op. last time I couldn't fit in the seats or the belt- the extension belt only just fit. Now??? Normal seat, normal belt that I had to tighten about 5 inches!! Tray table was DOWN ladies (and gents)!!!

Waiting for my connecting flight on a bigger plane - hoping it'll be even roomier :)

Doing a happy dance in my head right now!

I never seem to get over that one nowadays...I always look how much room there is on the seatbelt.

I think I've just broken a 4 week "stall" (seemed more like a 4 week "kangaroo" as my weight jumped up and down in a 1.5kg range, but I believe the correct word is stall). I didn't measure myself at the start so don't know if I kept losing cms. Anyway, just had to share that with people who will know how good it feels!

I'm studying intensely at the moment and often getting little sleep and extra food - if you stay awake for 20 hours you do tend to have another mealtime, it's not gorging just a long awake period that you need fuel for. But even so I never went above 1300 cal, which is about 60% of the average daily intake for someone my height (at least I think it is). I was shocked at how easily weight loss stopped and even some regain occurred. It makes me wonder of post sleeve we all find our daily intake significantly lowered.

I should say also that my exercise is fairly light on at present - lot of sitting and studying, with 40 min dog walk each day and not heaps of anything else. That can't be good, I know. Especially in these important first 6 months (I'm 3.5 months out).

I know!! And before I couldn't lower the tray as it hit my belly!! Now there is inches and inches of space!!! I love that!!

Hi everyone :) a quick question, who used their superannuation to fund their surgery?? I'm planning on using some of mine and I'm currently waiting on my surgeons letter to arrive so I can send off my application. Did anyone have any troubles? And does anyone have any recommendations to make the process easier??, if I don't get approved I can't have my surgery! Fingers crossed hey :)

Hi Nikki.Welcome and good luck with your sleeve journey.I am self funded with good private health cover so I can't advise you on your super release.I will however strongly recommend that you allow an extra 1 or 2,000 dollars for unexpected costs.I had to pay a fortune in medical tests before my surgeon would operate.

Hi Nikki.

I used some of my super to find my surgery. I do have phi but used it to cover my out of pocket expenses. Feel free to message me with any questions u have. Happy to answer.

I used super too- it was fine. Quick and easy really- I had thought it would be harder. Your dr will know what they need to write- you can actually access the legislation yourself if you'd like its online. Cheers Liss

Hi guys - I haven't posted in here for so long and I'm so out of touch, but I hope everyone is doing really well. I just wanted to share a "benefit" of losing my 30kg - I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer and if I hadn't lost the weight I wouldn't have found the lump and gone for testing. So for me, having my sleeve done has paid off big time! Another reason why I'm so glad I did it!!

Sue, I'm sorry for your diagnosis but so thankful you could catch it earlier!

This is my three-month check-in! I've lost 16.5 kg and 26% of my excess weight, and lost 8 BMI points. I went from a 20w in Autograph to an 18 (now W) at Target and from a 2xl top to an xl. Bra went from 22DD to 18C. Belt from L to M. I no longer take diabetes medication. And I am in week 4 of the Couch to 5K, running three times a week.

I also spent the whole weekend at a music festival eating (smaller amounts of) what everyone else was having. I fekt completely normal! I gained a little under a kg but I will take it. :)

Hi All,

I think I have introduced myself before - possibly when I got my surgery date in Feb 13. Now I'm 3 weeks from beginning my pre op diet and 5 weeks from the big day! Super excited and annoyed my husband terribly with my counting down the days haha Have just finished puréeing bean/lentil and vegetable Soup for purée phase which starts at day 3-5 after op. Most of what I've read had people on liquids for a few weeks first? I'm having surgery at QE11 with Dr Justin Greenslade.

Yay! Oh and I've been stalking this thread for ages haha but nowhere near read all 4500 posts! Lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
