Three weeks out no more weight loss. I eat so much less and the scale says nothing. An example would be if I have protien I can eat two big shrimp and I am done. Is this to much?

I use the snack size tuna and after a couple of bites I an done. Drink plenty of fluids unsweet tea or Water. Not released for full exercise yet.

Am I on the right path or am I doing something wrong.

Kim

I'm not there yet, but it sounds like a stall to me.

That is funny, I am having the same problem. I have been walking, probably not as much as I should but I am and I am seeing a stall and I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. I thought it was me.

Kim, you may have reached the infamous 3 week stall. A lot of folks have experienced it. Take a deep breath and trust your scale will move soon. In the mean time, evaluate your progress so far: Are you getting in all your liquids? Are you getting the right amount of Protein (60-80 grams depending on what your doctor recommends)? Are you eating enough? Sometimes you body may go into "starvation mode," especially if you are under 800 calories. Hope this helps! Hang in there. Stalls are a normal part of the process - I know that doesn't make it any less frustrating!!

Once i got my calories up i was back to my regularly scheduled program...LOL

This was my thinking as well because I am in the same boat. I am struggling to get more than 25 to 30 oz. of fluids in. I sip all day at work, but still when I was told no drinking 30 mins. before eating or an hour after eating, it really limits you because if you eat three meals that is 4 1/2 hours in which I can not drink anything!!! How are you all getting your fluids in? I feel like this is a big mystery to me with the timing of eating issue.

I also wanted to know what you mean "got my calories up"... to what amount? I am probably at about 600 to 700 on a good day. Thanks. It would help to know what to strive for to get off this stall. I really appreciate your help and comments on this one.

Willowsknot my NUT said i need to get 800calories aday atleast for my body to continue to lose weight. But i also need to get my fluids in too. It was very hard until i started drinking sugar free carnation Instant Breakfast or making sure i get my Protein Shakes in. Its killing two birds with one stone. Your getting more calories and the hydration part too.

Saw my doc yesterday and I was told 800 to 1000 for the same reason and to remain healthy. Thanks for the carnation instant breakfast. Think I will get some this weekend. I used to like that stuff.

that is a good idea about the fruit punch and the vanilla Protein. i too have hit a stall and am very frustrated. i have been walking since i was about 2 weeks out of surgery. i wonder if it is because of muscle gain also that the scale is not moving. GAH!! so irritating!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
